Tigertail is one of the public beaches on Marco Island. It is towards the North end of the beach. Tigertail does not sit directly on the ocean as there is a barrier peninsula (Sand Dollar Spit) that is situated between Tigertail and the ocean. The outer beach (Sand Dollar Spit) is more secluded and more scenic. There is a lot... More

Unlike most sea side resorts in England you can't drive along the front on Marco Island due to the private 'resorts' that populate the coastline...so you either have to find an alleyway that leads you the beach or by car drive to the designated area off Hernando Drive - $8 parking fee. If you choose the latter be warned. Why?... More

The boardwalk has a map that shows you to go left you walk around on dry ground to the gulf or to the... More

After a Caribbean cruise we were spending a few days in a villa in Marco Island, though I have been to Florida numerous times I had never visited Marco Island before. The beach was just over a ten minute walk fro our villa. It is a very flat compacted sandy beach, the day I visited it the walk to the... More

Beautiful sand and water. Beautiful bird watching. Food available. Easy to get to. Bring your water shoes if you want to walk through the swamp area to get to the other side.

The beach is the largest and widest beach I have every seen. It must have been a 300 year walk just to get to the water. It is very different and I would have loved it except the beach is more like hard shells crumbled on hard dirt. It was not a sandy beach as I think of. Tiger tail... More

Follow Collier Blvd to Marco Island, then signs to Tigertail Beach. Free entrance with sticker (free to county residents; $50/season others). Park yourselves just over the boardwalk on the beach. Cafe, covered seating area, rentals. OR, be brave and walk across the tidal lagoon to the Gulf side beach. Helps to have water shoes on. Must carry chairs or towels... More

This beach is well marked but look for the sign at an intersection just after entering Marco Island. At first when we parked and walked out to the park area we did not realize that this part was a lagoon area. Take the time and follow the signs to the main beach - it is huge, white and sparkling -... More
