Surprising number of vintage aircraft for a little museum at the end of the road. Lots of Florida air history too. Right at the airport which hosts the Sun n fun fly in. You are also allowed to go into hangars where they are refurbishing old planes, which I found really nice. They also have some of the more bizarre... More

This is a Florida Must See. Such an appreciation for flying and the history. Interactive. Plus it's a lil' bit of old Florida around this area, Lakeland, Florida or Polk County. I would advise you to check out the entire area.

This isn't exactly Oshkosh, but you would enjoy the history as you walk through the various examples of airplanes. We went on an off day so there was virtually no one around...which actually made it even nicer for us in a way. One odd thing was that when we walked into the hangar, got inside via the wide-open hangar door,... More

Wonderful collection of vintage aircraft spanning a century many of which were experimental and/or racers spanning a century Interesting collection of aircraft spanning a century many of which were one offs. The museum is laid out nicely and the exhibits well curated. Especially worth seeing is the Howard Hughes exhibit which includes his custom flight suit as well as one... More

We got a great deal for an annual membership through Groupon, since our son loves science and airplanes, and we planned to be in the area for a day trip we thought we'd check it out. Wow what a mistake! Even at a price the basically pays for itself after 1 visit, we regret being members here. This museum is... More

This is a great museum to sample aircrafts - if you aren't sure you want to invest money & time in going to Fantasy of Flight. Glad we went here first to see if our family was interested in more airplanes. Really liked the building were airplanes are being repaired and restored, interesting volunteer workers to help explain the process.... More

While not as big as some air museums, they have a nice collection with several planes in flying condition including a few I've never seen before in person (like the Lysander). Many aircraft are parked outside so plenty off room for the kids to roam. We had a pass to attend but I think the museum costs $10 and there... More

We stopped at this museum since it was along our path, and we could get in free with a reciprocal museum pass. It has a small collection, but what they do have is immaculately maintained. Older and smaller private aircrafts are inside, and the larger military planes are displayed outside. Their exhibits skew heavily towards those who like to fly... More

Im a business traveler and I was in Lakeland for the weekend and thought I would check this out. It is not a bad museum and it is the worlds largest collection of FLYING aircraft. Key word is flying, all of the planes there are either currently able to fly or are being restored in order to fly, which is... More
