Located on the South Side of the Lakeland, Florida airfield at the Sun-n-Fun hangars sites this museum and aviation education outreach program has grown each year into a really first class operation. Many exhibits cover early Florida aviation history from Glenn Curtis and Wright Brothers training schools in the warmer Winter of Florida to the Pan American operations, Howard Hughes...

This was our first time to sun n fun and I did not think it would be that much walking. Their are so many planes that it's impossible to see in one day. We went on a Friday and the air show was great featuring the Thunderbirds. 4 hours of ariel entertainment.
The fee was $35.00 pp to get in...

Attended my first Air Show at Lakeland this year. Getting to the entrance should have been easier as the signage both getting there and back to I-4 were lacking. I thought the price of a 1-day ticket was a little expensive, especially if you are going as a family ($35.00 pp). Once inside, you were basically on your own, though...

This is, I am told the second largest air show in the country, second only to Oshkosh Wisconsin. Planes of every size and vintage are featured but the best part, for me at least, is the annual visit from either the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels. It is very well organized and run with special thanks to the hundreds of...

We always visit the air museum when we go during sun n fun. I enjoy the museum, however I feel like they try to make it look different every year by moving everything around but it is really all the same items.

In addition to a great little museum there are two of the most unusual aircraft in the world on the grounds. The "Seadart" - a jet engined float plane for the U.S.Navy and the Lockheed XFV-1, an aircraft that had contuer-rotating propellers that took off and landed "on its tail"!
Add this attraction to the Sun 'n Fun airshow week...

Very helpful staff. Good Howard Hughes exhibit. Good display of airplane models (not the kind from kits) and home built aircraft. The weekend we visited, the hangars had been emptied of all the full size aircraft because the space was being used to house a judged dog show. Apparently, they do this every year. We did not get to see...

If aviation history tweaks your interest even a little, a nice way to spend a few hours rehashing history. Clean and friendly atmosphere with small gift shop. Take your time to absorb the history and you'll be brought back to a very different time and place, almost unimaginable by our standards today. Would you fly a plane with only a...

I was just driving by and stopped there for 90 minutes, but have to say that this was one of the most educational museums I have seen in the long time. Not so many aircrafts, but some rare and LOTs of information about history of aviation. Everyone shall see this... $10 definitely worth!
