The Polk theater is an amazing place. Designed and built when theaters were opulent inside, this one has an Italian villa theme complete with twinkling lights in the ceiling! Don't miss the balcony, it is a real treat! More

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! I was there to see the 2011 version of "Jane Eyre" (it was the only place nearby showing the film)! More

I've only been able to visit Polk Theatre twice but I loved it both times. This is truly like stepping back in time! They regularly show independent films and the older classics and the decor inside is just as it was decades ago and is very well kept. A friend and I went to see Gone with the Wind at... More

Beautiful restored grand movie house of the 1920's. Made in Italian style with balconies and ornate stage. Look up and view the twinkling stars in the night sky ceiling. Only the sound system still need work - fair but not great. Mostly run by volunteers. It is a local treasure. More

A beautiful historic theatre that's reminiscent of "the golden age" with a mezzanine lobby, ornately tiled staircase, and terrazzo floors. The most spectacular is a starry ceiling painted a deep, royal blue, with twinkling stars and sunrise/sunset effect. I feel transcended when there. We have attended many films and special events. My only compliant is that I wish they were... More

This old theatre has been refurbished and is so beautiful inside. There is even an organist playing the old organ before movies. For those of you who remember the good old days, you will really enjoy this! Aside from movies, there are live performances here too. Last spring we saw Natalie Cole and it was a wonderful show. Last week... More

As the previous reviewer said, the Polk Theatre has been around since the 20s. It'sa special old movie theatre that they've restored but kept the original charm--with sparkling stars in the ceiling, a viewing balcony and comfy velvet seats. On the weekend, there's an organist and raffle drawing. The tickets are still less than the Cobb and they get artsy/indie... More
