You can find Frank Lloyd Wright architecture around the USA, even around the world. But you'll never find such a concentration of single purpose buildings in one area. I believe there are 13 Wright-designed buildings here on campus, including the recently completed Usonian house that was planned, but never built for faculty. Unfortunately, the main chapel was under renovation when... More

We had a hard time finding the visitor's center and encountered other people walking around lost as well. There is no signage and the address given us and others was the main address for the campus. Drive along Frank Lloyd Wright Drive until you see his Usonian house and it's the house next door with a statue of him and... More

Yes, it's worth the trip just to walk around the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and visit the gift shop on your own, but give yourself a big treat and take the 2 hour tour. Well worth the $35. Our group of four was lucky enough to have John as our guide and he was phenomenal. A true lover of Wright's... More

Frank Lloyd Wright's last constructions and his dream of creating a village. A tour, early 10:30 with their excellent guides does make a difference to understand the relationship with Dr. Spivey and Frank Lloyd Wright, and how hard it was due to finance and WWII to accomplish this series of building.

The "Child of the Sun" chapel is the centerpiece of a 13 building collection of Frank Lloyd Wright designed structures on the west campus of Florida Southern College. May be approached from Lake Hollingsworth via Johnson Ave. (one way northbound) or from S. Florida Ave. (FL 37) via Frank Lloyd Wright Way. Next to the visitor's center (which, interestingly, is... My great grandfather was a land speculator in the 30's in Lakeland. He made a generous donation to FSC and his name is etched in to one of the planters by the business office. My mother was an alumni at FSC having graduated in the 40's. As a child my grandparents lived close to the college, so when visiting them... More

The campus, along a lake front, is jaw dropping gorgeous, and then you begin to see the stunning architecture among the trees and tropical plantings. Wow doesn't do it! We first stopped at the admissions building for directions to the visitors' center. That building with a wall of glass facing the lake is almost sensory overload. A most pleasant person... More

We were amazed and dumbfounded this location of FLW's architecture had never come across our radar. The buildings are wonderful. The guides are indeed a wealth of information not just about the college buildings but of Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture in general. It is certainly well worth a visit - and take the in depth guided tour so you actually... More

This man was a genius. His buildings at Floyd Southern are worth the visit. Chat with the people in the Visitors Center. They are a wealth of information. Walk around the lake when you've finished touring the college grounds. I wonderful way to spend the day. I will go back.

What an unexpected gem! Do go to the visitor's area on Frank Lloyd Wright street. Pay for the 30 minute tour that includes a 20 minute film and 10 minute tour of the Usonian home next door. It is fascinating.
