Although I have lived most of my life in central Florida, and the last few years in Polk county - I only recently discovered Lake Kissimmee State Park - my loss that I missed out on this gorgeous place in the past!!! I've camped out here several times - the campgrounds are just about the prettiest I've ever seen! Located... More

If you're looking for a great picnic place or a camping spot near Lake Wales, this is a terrific option. Off the beaten path a bit, it is one big canopy of live oak trees. Lots of picnic tables, BBQ grills, shelters and spotless restroom facilities. Even a play set for the kids. Bring friends and family and enjoy!

If you're interested in wildlife, Kissimmee State Park is the place for you. During our visit we saw tortoise, deer, cardinals, bobtail cat, and a host of other animals. Some of the most unique things we saw right on our campsite. The best time to visit would be the drier seasons and in the cooler months however, the trails tend... More

I was very upset at the fact that when me and my family went to the cow camp that we were discriminated against because the people I was with were of Spanish decent. The old man that was there completely ignored us. And family member was visiting from Colombia and when the old man went to yell at her about... More

Lake Kissimmee is abundent with birds, fish, and wildlife. There are a number of ways to observe or interact. If you have a boat you can move among the tall grasses, remembering there are 100,000 lakes and streams in this area. Lake Tohopekalia is nearer Kissimmee, but not part of Lake Kissimmee State Park. The Park has clean facilities, camping,... More

We enjoyed visiting Lake Kissimmee State Park and even saw an eagles nest and could see the baby eagles perched way above.

We started our trip about 30 minutes away at a well known resort. While there was a lot to do the "campsite" there was an empty field and there was no electrical hook ups. We moved our travel trailer to Lake Kissimmee State Park and found beautiful camp sites and full water and electrical hook ups for 1/4 the price... More

My husband and I reserved this State Park when we could not find a vacancy in any of the area parks and are we ever happy the other parks were full!!!! This State Park is a hidden gem. The sites are huge and secluded, the washrooms modern and convenient, and the Cow Camp is informative and fun! Make sure you... More
