For a long time this place had been the center of Lake Wales history and culture. The problem now is that a bunch of vultures have descended upon it, and forced it to shut down. No one really knows why, but there's a bunch of misinformation floating around. Time will tell. Anyway, thanks goes to Mimi Hardman for founding and... More

A nice museum and community type center. The town itself is a major producer of oranges juice processing that is important in Florida and generally in the country. This museum portrays life around the area and shows the life was like in the area. It is very well laid ou in is one of the two attractions in the area... More

This is a little gem. Not only for rail buffs (model railway inside and restored caboose outside) but also for the history of the area. From really ancient preserved canoes through to items covering the cattle, citrus, turpentine and tourist industries. Also the dolls and superb dolls houses will delight children of all ages! We also liked the old photographs... More

Casey Jones territory with original station, some track and a few original wagons. Nice interesting museum alongside. For the model railway enthusiast there is an N gauge layout inside. Details of Bok tower history, Railway history plus the history of Chalet Suzanne Restaurant and Country Inn.

I enjoyed seeing old Florida and this museum has items from the past from this area. There is a lot of old railroad history here on display. But the best part was the Europe Model Rail N-scale display which was donated to the museum by Mr.Rudolf Sigle. We were there on Saturday afternoon when Mr. Rudy at age 92 comes... More

I was really surprised at how interesting this museum was. Mimi was our guide and she was a real treasure. She has a wealth of knowledge to share. She spent over two hours with us on the tour. We learned so many interesting facts about the city of Lake Wales. We paid $2.00 entrance fee. We began in the art... More

The Depot Museum was a treat for two tourists who are interested in Florida history. It is filled with doll houses, furniture, toys, tools, clothes and artifacts from the early to mid 20th century. We left with a good sense of how and why the town came into existence, and had a good time looking at the collection. $2.00 donation... More

My wife and I would like to express our thanks for a lovely visit to the Lake Wales Depot Museum yesterday where the guide (Mimi) brought to life the paintings and exhibits on show. We were impressed by her tales of how the museum came into being and of some of the local history.

The Lake Wales Depot Museum & Cultural Center is a true treasure! The city is just over 100 years old, and much has happened in these few years that is well worth knowing. The history begins with the Native Americans, the cattle industry that fed troops during the Civil War, and turpentine production back before it became a town. There... More

My wife and I had a wonderful guided tour through this once-upon a time train depot. Seriously, amazing. The collection of valuable things, from all walks of Central Florida history, is unmatched in the area of Lake Wales. We saw a room filled with Native American artifacts, many things even from other tribes outside Florida and the Southeast. There was... More
