First off there are two museums with the same address! Nearby Frostproof has a museum at 325 S Scenic Highway in Frostproof, Florida. Our GPS took us there first and that was a small building only open 3 days a week. We were driving to Lake Wales anyway so once we found our Lake Wales destination we tried again. This... More

This was a very wonderful place to visit! A lot of history and great exhibits! A very quaint atmosphere! We were there when they had a vintage toy display and it was an awesome collection. The model trains and equipment were outstanding. The walk into the old railroad cars was great! Would go back ANYTIME!

City of Lake Wales has seized the contents of the museum which are the property of the Historic Lake Wales Society and installed their own group to run the property.

Precious local Museum set in a historic depot currently closed until fall. Has 3 other buildings as part of the complex. The City has just hired a director/curator who is working with the new Lake Wales Museum Association to refurbish and update the facility and exhibits. What was once a charming and quaint experience will continue but with added relevance... More

For a long time this place had been the center of Lake Wales history and culture. The problem now is that a bunch of vultures have descended upon it, and forced it to shut down. No one really knows why, but there's a bunch of misinformation floating around. Time will tell. Anyway, thanks goes to Mimi Hardman for founding and... More

A nice museum and community type center. The town itself is a major producer of oranges juice processing that is important in Florida and generally in the country. This museum portrays life around the area and shows the life was like in the area. It is very well laid ou in is one of the two attractions in the area... More

This is a little gem. Not only for rail buffs (model railway inside and restored caboose outside) but also for the history of the area. From really ancient preserved canoes through to items covering the cattle, citrus, turpentine and tourist industries. Also the dolls and superb dolls houses will delight children of all ages! We also liked the old photographs... More

Casey Jones territory with original station, some track and a few original wagons. Nice interesting museum alongside. For the model railway enthusiast there is an N gauge layout inside. Details of Bok tower history, Railway history plus the history of Chalet Suzanne Restaurant and Country Inn.

I enjoyed seeing old Florida and this museum has items from the past from this area. There is a lot of old railroad history here on display. But the best part was the Europe Model Rail N-scale display which was donated to the museum by Mr.Rudolf Sigle. We were there on Saturday afternoon when Mr. Rudy at age 92 comes... More

I was really surprised at how interesting this museum was. Mimi was our guide and she was a real treasure. She has a wealth of knowledge to share. She spent over two hours with us on the tour. We learned so many interesting facts about the city of Lake Wales. We paid $2.00 entrance fee. We began in the art... More
