Spook Hill is a good old fashioned Florida tourist item.

But it won't leave the hair standing on your arms! Be prepared to just enjoy an extremely low key activity and have a good laugh at the nostalgia. The attraction is located on a... read more

I had experienced Spook Hill as a teenager and had a great time. Nothing has changed and it is still a mystery!

But it won't leave the hair standing on your arms! Be prepared to just enjoy an extremely low key activity and have a good laugh at the nostalgia. The attraction is located on a regular residential road that becomes congested when the nearby Spooky Hill Elementary School starts and ends for the day. You'll want to plan accordingly. I have... As a native of Florida, I had heard the lore for quite a while. On my recent drive through Lake Wales, I stopped by. I think the effect that the hill is supposed to have is highly over-rated. If you are in the area it is free so no reason to not judge for yourself.

We went, did what the sign said and we rolled backward and seemed like we went up the hill a bit, but not much more than momentum would drive you. Don't go when school is getting in or out, right by a school and the parents DO NOT want to wait for you to be "spooked".

We couldn't get this to work - could be because we were in a large high SUV. Our host told us we should have looked in the rear view mirror as we coasted backwards, which we didn't know before we tried this. Need to do it again sometime.

I grew up going to Spook Hill every summer as a child. It became a tradition to bring the youngest children to the hill every family reunion. While the hill itself is interesting, exaggerating the story late at night was what made it fun. It's a classic old Florida spot and if you are in the area, hey it's a... More

Would go see if you are in area but I would not recommend long travel to this area. I am not sure it is spooky maybe for young children. Stayed about 3 mins.

It is true your car will go backwards on this road at the right spot if in neutral. It is a little strange but far from spooky. Just a novel thing to do if in the area.

With all of the high tech experiences kids get in this world, Spook Hill is a must-do if you are in the area. Where else can you magically experience rolling backwards up hill? No special gadgets required; just sit in your car and put it in neutral. Not a fun filled energetic afternoon, but it does generate some interesting scientific... More
