Not much there, but its an old Florida attraction. If your in Lake Wales its worth stopping by. Optical illusion makes the car go back up the hill on its own. The kids love it. Mine have been going since they were little. On our last trio they still wanted to go (now 23 n 25 Years old)

So where is the spooky hill? In a little spot near Lake Wales. We went/passed through twice to make sure we "feel" this magnetic field that pulls the vehicle against the pull of gravity. But what I experienced was near dizziness instead. So, duh. This is one of those little places that you can tick off your list without really... More

No, Newtonian physics (I'm talking gravity here) laws will be obeyed. However it is easy for our senses to be "fooled" by what they perceive. Or, in Latin: Sapiens nihil affirmat quod non probat! Since Spook Hill is just a few miles from Bok Tower and Garden, it was a humorous side trip.

I drove to the white line, put my car in neutral, and it immediately began to go backwards, as if going uphill. And we went faster and farther than I thought we would. I would not make a special trip just to try this for 3 minutes, but we had just visited Bok Tower and Gardens, and Spook Hill is... More

I've heard about this for years, but somehow it didn't work for me. Later, someone told me that if I had looked in my rearview mirror, I would have had the effect. Still, no cost and it might work for you.

It is certainly different but it took us a while to figure out that we were traveling uphill. Combine this with Bok Tower

There's not much to this one -- a sign by the side of the street across the street from an elementary school telling the legend of Spook Hill. There's a white line painted at what appears to your eyes be the bottom of a small depression at the bottom of the hill. You stop your car on the line, shift... More

The road signage was not good and we never did find it. Best to ask a local or at your hotel for directions so you do not miss it like us. We found out later a map of the area does show exactly where it is.

When we went, we thought we were actually gonna roll up the hill or something... Obviously the only thing the car does, is roll down the hill. It's an optical illusion that you're going up... But the view was definitely worth the trip. Lake whales is beautiful
