Short visit on a hot day

We have visited Disney twice in the past three years. The Wilderness Preserve was by far my favorite part. Disney never ceases to amaze me and I plan to return again next year.

Its a bit off the beaten track, but a lovely little reserve.Well worth the visit, but in the midday sun in July it got a bit uncomfortable!

Maybe it was the time of the day and year, but I was disappointed with my outing. The trails are not very well marked and It is easy to get turned around and accidentally double back. There are some benches, but no markers educating you about the wildlife, plants or ecology. There was no one at the ranger station to... More

Hubby and I visited this preserve back in March. It was a hot sunny day and we walked the trail a bit. I wish it was a cooler day, we would have enjoyed a longer visit. I enjoy seeing the birds and even for later in the day we saw some meadowlarks, mockingbirds and a few other sparrows.. I would... More

This is NOT a theme park its a nature preserve and there are 3 treks you can do - half a mile - 2.5 miles - 3.5 miles. Easy walking on well marked trails and go in morning before it gets hot. Opens at 9am closes 5pm. We saw storks, ibis, harriers, bluebirds, doves, woodpeckers, toads, gophers and vultures. Took... More

The preserve has a greal number of African animals. You can tell that the animals are well treated just by looking at them. We didin't prebook the Jeep trip through the preserve but our wait time was only about 15 minutes. This was one of the high points of our trip.

This was our third time at the Wilderness Area. After a day at Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney, the preserve is a needed break. It is quiet and beautiful and a nice area to hike at a leisurely pace.

This was an unexpected highlight during our villa/theme park/beach holiday. Owned by Disney but not a Disney theme park. A very pleasant Decemeber stroll for 2 hours, not too hot and nice & flat. The staff were very helpful, loading the kids with nature trails sheets and full of information. Oh and we saw an alligator (camoflagued in this photo!)... More

Very peaceful, out of the way, and Free (donations optional)! This is located miles from Walt Disney World. You will need to drive to get to this secluded area. I was there for an hour on a Saturday in March and didn't see another soul. The 3 trails of varied lengths are marked and maintained well. However they are not... More
