This preserve was started as a wetlands mitigation project by Disney and is maintained by the Nature Conservancy. If you want to see Florida in its true natural state, this is the place to go.

Decided to check out this place, as a switch from our usual park hopping/shopping trip. It is off the beaten path, to a Florida I don't normally see. There is a driving loop, with a bypass that you can read signage telling you a bit about the park & what you can see. I'm sure if we had had binocs...

this place is the best loved every miniute The only downside was sometimes the man on the gate on entry was very abrupt. Only one of them but he was the same every time. All the other cast members were very welcoming.

"Beginning May 28, 2011, the preserve will be closed on weekends. " It's not exactly user-friendly for those of us that live and work in the area. Very disappointed that we drove 1 1/2 hours and could not get in.
