Description: Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit education and research facility...
Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit education and research facility. Home to a family of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions, we offer fun-filled narrated behavior sessions and educational presentations every half an hour. During your visit you can watch and learn all about these amazing animals including dolphin maternity, social groupings, physiology, natural abilities and more. You'll see how we care for them, how we're working with them in cognition and behavioral research and more. DRC also offers a variety of interactive programs including the Dolphin Encounter swim program, Trainer for a Day, Researcher for a Day and Paint with a Dolphin. We are actively involved in programs for people with Special Needs, as well as veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project, Military families, and others. Most of our dolphins were born here. Others have come to us for a variety of reasons -- including those who were injured and rescued as youngsters and later deemed non-releasable by the government. We are deeply committed to providing all of them with a safe, healthy, happy home for life. The well-being of the dolphins and sea lions is our top priority. Your visit and participation in programs supports the care of our marine mammal family, the maintenance of their natural sea water home, and the rest of our mission to educate others about these animals and the importance of conservation.Thank you for your interest in Dolphin Research Center!

Nice place to view dolphins and sea lions and parrots. There were lots of babies here. Lots of shade for viewing without getting too fried. There were quite a few babies there this year. Watching the people in the water with the dolphins was interesting but we learned more by watching the trainers quietly working with different areas of dolphins... More

A friend of ours told us to stop and see the Dolphin Research Center on Marathon. We did, and all those times I have tried to get dolphin pictures and only got the fin or a tail are no longer. The dolphins performed like actors in a show. Our pictures and videos turned out fantastic and I will treasure them... More

We went in just hoping to see dolphins, but what we got was so much more. We saw dolphin shows, and even learned a ton about the research they are doing at the DRC. I find the research really interesting, since I have a background in science. I wish I could have done some of the encounters. They looked so... More

I am so glad I did this. I signed up for the Dolphin Encounter, where you get to swim with the dolphins in a controlled atmosphere. I was the only one who showed up for the 3:00 class. They asked me if they could try something new (to them) and if it would be okay if they introduced ALL of... More

It sure sounds like you had an extra special experience when you visited Dolphin Research Center. It doesn't happen very often for only one person to do the program and we're sure that the dolphins were happy to interact with you too. Sorry about the whistle being so close to your ear. The whistle is an important signal. In training... More

We visited the DRC on March 17 and did the Dolphin Encounter with our two boys ages 4 and 7. It was amazing! The trainer, Kristine was so energetic with Gambit and Delta and all of us thoroughly loved it! She was helpful and patient in answering all of our questions. The rest of the park is a little run... My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed this center! The cost to get in was $25 per adult and we got a small discount for AAA. They have several interactive programs, a few have to be reserved ahead of time but most were walk-in sign up. We went in within a hour of the center opening (opens at 9:00) to... More

This is a non-profit facility and affords a great opportunity to interact with animals, if that's your wish. The actual interactive stuff seemed quite expensive, but mere admission allows plenty of educational opportunity. The young people who conduct a nice variety of shows and seminars are quite professional and interact well with a wide variety of visitors -- in a... More

We had our 11 and 8 year old do the dolphin dip here. They had a blast! They got to touch and interact with the dolphins in their own enclosure. We got great pictures and also bought the USB that was taken by the photographer there. Felt like it was a good deal compared to some of the other experiences... More
