Lots of sand and clear water makes this the best beach in this area. We saw a few dolphins while in the water. Will go back again!

Excellent bath house, park, and picnic shelters adorn this well maintained public free beach. In the Keys where one pays for everything, it is great to experience a fine beach for free!
Our family took a vacation to Marathon, FL the week before Mother's Day. The home we rented was within walking distance to Sombrero Beach. The beach was clean & is very family and pet friendly. It is nice to have playground equipment for younger children (which didn't apply to us). They also had bathroom facilities on site as well as...

This beach was easy to find and had hassle free parking. The beach was a very clean sandy beach. There were also restrooms and showers, as well as picnic pavillions. The nicest part was that this beach is free and is only about a 10/15 minute drive from Duck Key. I believe they also have volleyball nets and a playground...

There aren't many free beaches in the keys, and this is the best free one we visited. It's got a playground and showers and the beach itself is sandy and nice for kids and adults alike.
Spent 2 days on Sombrero Beach. Nice sandy beach, no rocks to walk into water. There is free parking, bathrooms and picnic area with a play area for kids. A few trees on beach for shade. The water was warm. Did see a couple of Portuguese Man O War's, there are signs warning.
We've been here twice and snorkeled by the rocks that jut out near the restroom. It is a young reef there with a surprising amount of diversity and at least in Sept & April lots of colorful fish. Very nice beach, park and playground here too. No fee to park. Just turn south on Sombrero drive at mile marker 50...

Beach was clean, bath houses looked nice and lots of areas to get shade. I would go back. It's dog friendly too!
