We went here as the beach is dog-friendly. I didn't expect such a great place. It is a beautiful white sand beach connected to a great park with grassy areas, shade trees, and very clean facilities. The day we visited it wasn't crowded at all. A great place the take your family (and perhaps Fido).

The best thing about this beach is that it's free. When we went, it was relatively quiet and not crowded. There are bathrooms, showers to rinse off, volleyball courts, a playground, and picnic tables in the area before you get to the beach. The actual beach is small, covered in seaweed, and smells because of the seaweed. For us, it... More

We rented a house on Sombrero Road so it was walking distance to the beach. Based on the reviews, we were looking forward to some sort of fun in the sand. The beach itself was covered with seaweed and not a lot of places to plant a towel and enjoy the scenery. What was also disappointing was how there was... More

It's a nice area and off the main highway a couple miles, so it's mostly locals and those willing to explore a little. It'd be really nice for a picnic. Like most keys beaches though, it's mucky, full of seaweed, etc., etc..

This is the only sand beach worth the name outside of Key West, where there are only two or three small public beaches. This is also small. It's a county-maintained facility with manmade sand, a few palm trees, but quality sandy beach and ocean access. Great for snorkeling, for kids and pets, for just sitting on the beach and enjoying... This is our second time at Sombrero Beach. The water was pretty clear but like everyone else, we encountered a wall of seaweed. However, that was the only thing that I did not care for. We snorkeled and saw a few colorful fish but we also did see a baby Nurse Shark which was pretty cool. The best surprise was... More

A great beach to swim and soak up sun and fun in the Marathon area. Good wash off facilities. Watch out for the lionfish.

We visited Sombrero Beach twice during our visit. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach, which apparently is typical this time of year. Parking was easy. Bathhouse availability was nice (although they're never very clean). We even snorkeled some from the shore and while it was a bit murky, we still saw several different kinds of fish and... More

This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Keys. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft. The biggest drawback is the parking. The beach had grown in popularity, but parking is at a premium. The bathroom facilities are well kept and showers are everywhere to rinse off. A great way to spend a day... More

We went here one evening when there wasn't much of a crowd. Seemed like a nice place with a decent amount of beach, which is rare in the keys. No waves. None. Great for kids. Had bathrooms and outdoor showers to clean up with.
