Very family oriented public beach with gazebos and sand volleyball. The kayak put-in was for non-motorized vehicles only. Shallow water was excellent for beginners.

Spent half a day at this beach. It is tucked away in a neighborhood away from US 1 traffic and very quiet. Clean, well apportioned facilities (bathrooms, picnic area, playground). Not crowded and family friendly. My family snorkeled and enjoyed themselves immensely. There are 7 sea turtle nests on the beach which are protected at the moment. Great shell collecting!

All I can say is the water is beautiful, warm and clean.when we were there, the beach had lots of seaweed from a storm that had moved up the Atlantic. The regulars that drive over from Miami said the beach is usually clear of seaweed. The sand was like baby powder. White and soft!! July is off season for SWFL,... More

Unlike most of the keys beach this one has nice sandy beaches that are very well kept. The water was beautiful although seaweed was on the shore but that is everywhere in the keys. Overall one of my favorite beaches

Great family beach. Nice area to snorkel especially for beginners since there are no waves. Playground for the kids, grills and covered picnic tables. Clean bathrooms. For those of you not from Florida there is seagrass growing in the water so you may want to wear water shoes; feels a little weird. Water can get very warm in the summer... More

Although the Keys aren't really known for their nice beaches, this one is nicer than most. They have changing facilities and seems to be kept pretty clean. We were there in July and it was very hot, so it does attract a crowd at this time of year. We weren't there to swim and found it on our exploring, but... More

We visited Sombrero Beach after beach-trekking in the middle and lower keys for the day. This one was the best that we visited in terms of overall experience. There is a park that is directly in front of the beach which includes a jungle gym for kids and a few pavilions with picnic tables and grills. The beach and swimming... More
