I recently took the 7 day ASA 101,103, and 104 courses here with my SO (see the NC review). I was an absolute beginner, never having been on a sailboat, so there was a steep learning curve for me. Gdub, the owner and instructor of the school, told me what books to read ahead of time, which is very important!... More

While I have been sailing for 40+ years, my SO (significant other) had never set foot on a sailboat in her life. Based on what we found in the schools web site we gave it a try and booked a 7-day bareboat certification course (ASA-101, ASA-103, and ASA-104 classes). What attracted us most was one-on-one instruction and only our party... More

One review mentioned how shallow Florida Bay is and I couldn't agree more. After spending a night gunk-holed at Cow Pens, we had a super hairy morning the next day navigating our way west to get to the Atlantic. Sailing from Marathon (Boot Key Harbor) to Key West is a wonderful sail. Another beautiful anchorage is Bahia Honda State Park,... More

My wife and I chartered the boat and combined a half day charter and a sunset sail. Had fun. We sailed and motored (not much wind but GREAT weather) to a lighthouse on a reef. I just sat with my wife on a bean bag on the front of the boat and drank beer. When we got to the reef,... More

We had a fun but rather warm sunset cruise on the gulf. There was much discussion about almost having enough wind to sail, but such is boat life and we never did get a good gust of wind to really enjoy the boat - - many storms in the week we were in town, but deadly quiet for our particular... We love to sail in the Keys during the winter season. It's warm, the water is beautiful, and the weather predictable. Generally, the winds are 15 knots out of the east. If not, the change is predicted about a week in advance. We have sailed our 5 1/2 draft sailboat in Hawk channel. It's good sailing, but there are limited... More

The Bay can be tricky as it's rather shallow, but sailing the Atlantic is like sailing in heaven - I hope!!

We bring our sailboat to BKH every year and LOVE it there. Friendly lady at the check in desk, really clean facilities and just overall friendly people!

This was a special treat for my husband and I zipping along the coast around Marathon with the captain and his wife and two other couples. Dolphins accompanied us for a big chunk of the trip, playing between the hulls of the cat. Wine and beer was served as we toasted the sun going down. Be sure to go out... More

While in Key West take the sailing schooner The Jolly Rover. It's a two hour trip complete with occasional cannon fire. Rio, our Captain will not disappoint you and you'll even learn a bit about sailing.
