Our family enjoys biking and exploring nature here. It is a less populated part of the keys, with most of the development on the East side.

Since my wife is a geologist, we had to stop at the Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park. The history associated with the quarry is very interesting, as the limestone from the quarry was used to construct the Flaggler Railroad to Key West. It also illustrated how the Florida Keys were formed. The park ranger was both knowledgeable and... More

This small underutilized state park is the perfect place for a picnic and nature walk. You can walk into the old coral quarry and look for fossils, or visit the tiny museum,or walk the labeled paths. Great place for kids to run. The small entry fee is worth it if you plan to stay for an hour or two.

This is a geological park. It has a small museum about mining of the coral and beautiful nature walks through the hammocks. You can even bring the dogs here for a walk!

A fun walk through the old coral quarries and a look at some of the old equipment in some beautiful natural settings... Bring bug spray!

This was our first stay on Windley Key. We found the local folks welcoming and friendly. From Ronnie at the shop in Postcard Inn who gave us tips on the water depths and marinas, to Hog Heaven, which was instantly our second home, to Harbor Lights, the old style Florida motel that was great, we loved our stay.
