We went to Islamodora after reading the reviews about the Kayak Shack. The staff was friendly and helpful, the kayaks were in good shape and the cost was reasonable. We kayaked over to another island, walked around for a bit, then came back to go through the mangroves. It was a wonderful four hours.

We rented a couple of kayaks and went around the mangroves since it was too windy to go out into the open ocean. We loved the experience and saw the baby manatee (its 6 feet long) and a 3 foot crocodile and a ton of fish. Great experience on a lovely day. If we were staying longer in the Keys... More

Sheltered waters through the mangroves are a great place to bring kids or to see manatee and birds. Head in the opposite direction and paddle a mile or so over open water to reach an island where you can beach your boat and do the self-guided walk. Both are great options. The kayaks are decent and the staff are friendly.... More

Rented SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards) here for the afternoon. The staff was VERY helpful making sure we had the basics before setting off. Both of our children had their own boards and were able to paddle very well after a little practice. Great fun!

Fun day. I recommend going early in the morning. They open at 8:30. We had a four year old with us and he sat in the middle. Worked great. We saw fish, baby manatee and a nurse shark. You have the rental for a half day so you can go few different places. We did the mangrove loop which took... More

This review is a little late as we vacationed last November - but promised the nice folks at the Kayak Shack that we would spread the word... This place is awesome!! My husband rented a paddleboard and I a kayak... The weather was perfect, calm and lots to see and just when I thought the trip couldn't get any better... More

We chose this place after seeing the reviews and all I can say is that they are true. They forgot to charge me for the snorkeling gear. When we returned our trip there was a different person checking us out and I told him bout the snorkeling gear. All he had to say was " did u have a good... More

3 years in a row, I've had an awesome experience renting paddle boards from these kind people. The staff is so incredibly helpful, professional, and kind. Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to take my mom paddle boarding for the first time. They had a hybrid kayak/board called a "yolo-yak" that was great and stable enough for my mom to... More

What kind of business encourages you to participate in an activity that isn't going to financially benefit them? This one! Thanks so much to the staff that pointed out a better option for our day when it was windy out. We still opted to rent snorkel equipment for a few days and then back the next day to kayak through...
