My wife and I have just returned from Florida where we paid for a snorkelling trip from the Looe Key Reef Resort Dive Centre. At a little under £30 per person for a 5 hour trip this proved to be excellent value. The captain of the tour was really knowledgeable and the tour was well organised and safety conscious. Imagining... more

Exposed wiring, NO CLOSET just hooks on the walls, absolutely not as depicted in their website...WAY overpriced for the quality of the accommodations, non-working a/c, dive operation is only so-so, no bathtub, small black bugs in the bed and bathroom area, stained sheets (double yuck!). Just incredibly disappointing...wouldn't even recommend this place to my ex-husband ! Noisy bar until well... more

I just returned from visiting the Keys. I chose to stay here because of it's website. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place despite being described as a resort. I have spent many summer's in the Keys and should have stuck to my gut feeling when I saw this place from the road that it is a run-down,... more

Primitive, basic, cheap, and outdated hotel; semi-efficient and semi-professional -- but overcrowded and time-wasting -- dive boat/snorkeling operation. I live in S. Florida and dive in the Upper Keys often. I had heard many favorable things about Looe Key and anxiously awaited the opportunity to stay here and dive the Looe Key reef. I was sooooo disappointed! The $100/night room... more

We did a three-tank dive on 'wreck day' and had a good time with the group of 10 on board that day. I think the experience would have been less enjoyable had the boat been at capacity with 30+ people, but then again, there are multiple launch decks so presumably it would work OK logistically. Note: these are not guided... more

'Resort' it's not. Motel it is. Boat docking is great, Air conditioner in room is bad. We were there for the local fishing and snorkeling. Dont get fooled by the Web pictures of tranquility. The Tiki Bar is way too crowded and noisy with live music Friday & Saturday nights. Not interested in 'locals' partying. No room for dinner there... more

Terrifc laid back but professional dive staff. You could not find more knowledgable or friendly folks. Best of all, you have 3 hrs on the reef at 3 different locations--this beats anyone else's trip for the money. If you love to snorkle or dive, does it matter that your boat only takes 3 if you're bouyed up to a cattle... more

I say overanalyzed reviews because thats what most other reviews are. I knew that I was paying for a motel despite the "resort" in the name and thats exactly what it was and better. If you are in any confusion, just look at the motel room pictures and description. I rate the MOTEl excellent as I had very basic expectations... more

I stayed at the Looe Key Reef Resort & Dive Center for almost a week in September 2008 and it was great. Captains Rob & Robin did a great job on the Kokomo Cat II and I managed to see lots of fish. I always felt very comfortable even though it was my first time snorkeling. These two guys seemed... more
