Description: Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening...
Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening 1st-run indie, foreign and documentary films and Hollywood blockbusters every day. With 4 theaters, state-of-the art projection services and the best concessions stand anywhere (we serve wine and beer and drizzle our popcorn with 100% melted butter), it's no wonder Florida Monthly magazine named Tropic Cinema "Florida's Best Cinema" for four consecutive years.

Went to see "The Second Most Marigold Hotel" during it's early release weekend. Great little theater. Love that they have wine and craft beers to go with an assortment of munchies. Prices are inline with other cinemas and the halls lined with photos of stars of the big screen...just add to the eccentric feel. Very nice folks and unique in... More

When I was ten I would go "off to the show" with 25 cents and a bunch of friends. (Back then children were not chaperoned 24/7). Fifteen cents to get in and a nickel each for both popcorn and a cola. Then came the previews, then the newsreels, then a cartoon, often followed by two, not one, current movies. Movies... More

Decided to head to a movie when the weather turned chilly. What a treat--a real gem the Key West community has created. A small lounge with snacks and wine instead of an impersonal lobby. Volunteers helped out everywhere, and a multi-plex of sorts that showed several different first run movies. Will definitely return!

Looking for an indoor activity in Key West? This is it. An art cinema in the heart of town showing those movies that are hard to find in the major theaters. It's run by volunteers who obviously are devoted to and take great pride in this great little theater. They have wine, beer, snacks etc all of which you can... More

It's like a small version of a cinema from days gone by. Very cozy, clean, even a red carpet. There is even a small lounge that you can hang with friends before or after the movie. There is plenty of variety at the snack bar ranging from your popcorn, soda and candy to wine, beer, fruit and ice cream. They... More

Here we were made feel welcome and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The ticket prices are in the normal range and there appears to be a good range of films on offer. This is the sort of place were we like to watch our films. Not some enormous, impersonal Mutliplex.

In a small town like Key West, who would expect to have a high quality cinema that shows films you would probably never see in a multi-plex? And yet there it is just of the busy main thorough fare of Duval. Four screens, no less. Is this southernmost town lucky or what?
