Owner description: Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening 1st-run indie, foreign and documentary films and Hollywood blockbusters every day. With 4 theaters, state-of-the art projection services and the best concessions stand anywhere (we serve wine and beer and drizzle our popcorn with 100% melted butter), it's no wonder Florida Monthly magazine named Tropic Cinema "Florida's Best Cinema" for four consecutive years.

I love the intimacy of the theater. I just wish they had more options for food. They have the basic snack and drink options, but nothing like pizza or something like that. It is much better then the other theater.

The Tropic shows a combination of standard first-run films and independent films. I like the smaller size of the theaters, the friendly volunteers who staff it, and the ability to have a glass of wine with my film instead of the usual snack bar fare (although they have that, too). It's in Old Town, so walk, ride a bike, or... More

The Tropic is a fun theater that serves beer and wine, and snacks, worth eating. The movies are all first run, and they offer a speaker series, as well. Nice ambience...just look for the Marilyn Monroe statue outside the theater.

Awesome place to catch a movie. Full bar and good food. Just off Duval Street. Shows new releases plus some art house and classic films.

Between the life-like Marilyn Monroe outside to the traditionally appointed interior, you have entered a cinema from another era at the Tropic. The films vary from repertory independents to the recently released. Going to see a film here is an overall experience, a welcome relief from your typical "cineplex" machine or commercialization of Duval just steps away. Schedule and other... More

Seats were comfortable and the air conditioning did not give you frostbite. A real plus was there were no ads other than coming attractions prior to the movie - what a break.

This is a great place to see a movie in a theatre like ones you saw them as a kid. Very comfortable seating. Great choices in snacks and super friendly staff.

A great place to see movies that truly matter and not some of the garbage you would find in bigger theaters. The facility is clean and comfortable and they make great healthy popcorn You can get an adult beverage too! Check it out, especially if the weather turns sour.

Real nice break from the restaurant and bar scene that seems to pervade every nook of Key West. The Tropic Cinema is an easily-walkable destination and shows movies throughout the day. There is a large entry area with a snack counter and lounge-like area. The theaters themselves are smaller and more intimate that you see at typical multiple screen places.... More

My wife and I literally wandered into this place while exploring Key West and we ended up seeing a movie there another day. The staff seemed to be mostly volunteers and were super friendly. They show mostly independent films and classics. We went in for a Monday night classic and a volunteer came in to talk about the history of... More
