Have dove the Vandy with Southpoint and Captain's Corner. Can't get enough. So much to see. Watch your bottom time and you can get 2 good dives on her.

As a PADI Master Diver with 0000s of dives. First, current can be strong, Second, poor visibility can be a poor, Third, sharks and barracudas, Fourth, bring a reel for penetration throughout, Fifth, wear a lyca suit-Sixth, use steel tanks--Nitrox

The Vandenberg has only been down 6 years, so if marine life and coral growth are your thing, this is not for you...yet. If wrecks are your thing (and they are for me) this was GREAT! Our guide Anton gauged our skills on the first dive with several basic swim-throughs, then gave us a wonderful set of more intense swim-throughs... More

Amazing ship wreck to dive, only downside is that bottom time is capped at 17-20 minutes. Definitely would dive this again and again to explore more areas of the ship.

The keys are an area where most reefs bottom out at about 25 feet. Wreck diving gives a chance to go deeper. The deck level of the Vandenberg is at about 95 feet, so the drawback is that your time is limited. I'm told that another wreck in the area (whose name escapes me) is a bit shallower, and because... Got lucky to go out with flat seas and no current. The visibility was ok. It is a very big wreck and two tanks was not enough to see everything. They are pretty strict about their dive times which is a little frustrating since they require everyone to dive with computers. The bow of the boat has the most swim... More

I dove the Vandenberg wreck twice on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. It was my first time diving it and I was a bit apprehensive having read many dive reports citing concerns about currents and visibility when diving it. Fortunately, we got lucky with the current (was virtually undetectable) and visibility (60+ ft) and had a really great dive that I... More

I have done a lot of wreck diving in my 40 years of diving and teaching SCUBA and I found nothing special at all about this wreck. There was very little marine growth, which maked a wreck very interesting, and very few fish inhabiting the wreck. Because of the depth (~90 feet) we had very little bottom time (15 minutes),... Great Dive for the experienced diver for sure given depth and currents. Huge groupers! This is one for the log book!

This wreck is massive but for experienced divers it is pretty accessible and simply has to be done. Sadly there is no means of controlling visibility or currents so you can never be guaranteed ideal conditions as was the case on our two dives. But you know what? It doesn't matter...its iconic....just do it. There are some huge Groupers and... More
