Higgs beach

The water is beautiful. The sand is shelly and very hot so you will need to wear some water shoes or flip flops to the waters edge. Great place for the beginner to snorkel.

Love the water clarity of the waters of the keys. Fishing can be very enjoying while visiting the keys. Three day license price is reasonable, return visit expected summer of 2016. Prepare to enjoy great seafood restaurants all around.

This is a nice beach to spend the afternoon. After a rough morning on a rocky beach, the locals steered us to this spot. We had lunch first, then checked out the beach area. There is a bit of seaweed, but the sand is like baby powder! We rented a couple of chairs and an umbrella, then headed out to... More

Nice beach area, playground, and restaurant. Along the beach is the restaurant/bar, West Fort Martello, the African-American Memorial, the AIDS Memorial and the White Street Pier. Directly across the street is the dog park and nearby is the Key West Wildlife Center.

The pictures shown aren't what it looked like either time we went. There was so much seaweed and it smelled. The water was very murky. Lots of fishing on the pier. There was no way I was getting in the water here. We preferred Fort Zack.

Although we didn't spend much time on the beach, it was nice to have it so close to our hotel. We enjoyed watching the beach volleyball players one evening.

If this were in Alabama it would be fantastic so don't get me wrong it's ok but this is Florida. Biggest issue we had was the homeless and the interaction they have with tourists and the police.

We thought this was the nicest beach on KW. You can rent a chair and umbrella for $10 for the whole day. As with other KW beaches, seaweed collects at the water's edge - but it doesn't smell the way it does at Smathers Beach. It was very enjoyable, clean, has restroom facilities, a restaurant (Salute - open for lunch... More

Tried my luck at the pier and I was not disappointed. Steady action all day. Mangrove snapper and grunts. Smaller fish but a few keepers. Walking the pier to change spots I saw several big fish. From barracuda to tarpon, I even saw a pair of mantas. Good action on a spinning reel with frozen squid. You have to try... More

Good little beach with a place to get a bite to eat. Nearby people play tennis, pickle ball and other outdoor activities. Nice spot.
