Nice and Clea. For a public beach. Great pier with ladders down into the turquoise water. This beach is fine sandy and has a couple little restaurants right there if you need something. Ample parking and a park right across the street with basketball courts and playground for the kids. Enjoy the wild chickens!

Although the water was rocky for the first 15 feet or so, it was Sandy past that. The water was warm and just small tiny swell. Great for kids! My son, who does not NJ beaches because of his size, loved this beach. There were a number of kids jumping off the pier which looked like fun. You can rent... More

Not much of a beach but great for walking out on the long pier to watch a wonderful sunset. The homeless have taken over the beach so be careful after sunset.

The beach looks gorgeous as you drive by but once you walk down to the water, it's not as nice close up. It's very rocky, lots and lots of sea grass/weeds and dead jellyfish. The bathroom was also very dirty and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in months.

Used to be a great local place, but the beach chair concession really took over, now there is limited space. Additionally part of the beach is off limits because of the homeless. The pier is great and a wonderful place to watch the sun go down.

I'm not a beach person but I think these beach as a beach, is probably okay. I came here to teach the kids to snorkel and for that reason Higgs Beach is superb. The beach is surrounded by a dilapidated steel breakwater that shelters it from any wave action. The bottom gently slopes to a maximum depth of around 8... More

This lovely historical beach, captured the essence of a tranquil moment ,in the midst of the breathtaking ones to be had in Key West. You can walk and walk out into the oceans depth.

Key West is not known for its beaches since it is a surfaced coral reef island. However, this beach has sand deep to the water's edge, rental umbrellas and chairs, and beach front eatery. We visited while staying at the Casa Marina. But as for beaches goes, it's small and very average otherwise.

We walked a lot to find a beach to cool off. It was a hot, steamy day in September when we visited. Higgs Beach was nice. There were not a lot of people here and the water was cool and had a beautiful view. I even saw a small stingray in the water. I highly recommend this beach.
