It isn't going to take up an afternoon, but the Aquarium in KW is a very nice place to go, especially if you have kids with you. The guides do a great job at teaching about the animals they have, and its a great place to get out of the rain for an hour. Its $12 to get in, which... more
I visited the Key West Aquarium on May 5 and have to say it was a very refreshing and educational stop. I was there during the tour, and the guide was outstanding. It was the first time that I ever saw live rays (they are very friendly) being fed and got the chance to pet a nurse shark. Price of... more
My MIL wanted to visit Key West during our recent trip to Florida. There was not a lot to do for my two sons (11 and 5) and they were growing bored until we got to the Aquarium. The touch tank was fascinating, and learning about and watching the sting rays and the nurse sharks being fed kept them entralled.... more
This is one of the original tourist attractions in Key West. It certainly doesn't compare with Sea World, but who needs all that glitz? You do have an opportunity to touch some sea creatures. The guides were pleasant and well-informed. A nice retreat for the kids for an hour or so. more
We had a nice time at the aquarium. We walked in right as a tour began and our guide was quite informative. The last time we visited we didnt even realize there was another side area to the place. Make sure you see the whole aquarium. Just big enough to spend an hour or more if you look at each... more
This is an old fashioned Florida-style aquarium. This is NOT one of those mega-aquariums like in Brookyn, NY, Baltimore, MD or Tampa, FL. However, for the few bucks they charge to get in you'll spend an hour or so looking at the exhibits and enjoying a little education about the marine life (and get out of the sun). Great for... more
This is built as the first tourist attraction in Key West. The building is small and much of what it was from old photos. The kids enjoyed the touch tank! That was pure delight, and wish more places had them. more
Small aquarium; expensive admission; enough said. more
I visited the aquarium in December 2007 on a stopover on a cruise ship. The aquarium is small, but has some great fish. We got in after the beginning of the tour. Our guide was informative and knowledgable, though not very entertaining. The exhibits were interesting but needed some help. I enjoyed the petting tanks and the iguanas. On another... more
