Because it was a cloudy rainy day the bright blue waters were not as azure as I remembered. It is still an interesting drive. We were fortunate that traffic was was not heavy which made the drive more enjoyable as well. We did a little sightseeing along the way.

The image of driving on causeways and bridges linking small islands scattered in the ocean - the pictures of seven mile bridge disappearing into the sea - all seems great, yes? Well, the reality is somewhat different. I expected a greater sense of the road being suspended above the ocean, of small coves and stopping points where I could go... More

Driving through all the keys, it is fascinating to see so many people fishing! It really is a beautiful drive as you get to see the atlantic and the gulf most of the way down. There are plenty of picnic places to stop off and swim/snorkel. Some beautiful houses/mansions as you drive through the keys and you can really tell... More

While going from one Key to the next, the Overseas Highway offers beautiful views of the ocean. If you are staying on one of the Keys it would be worth your while to take a morning or afternoon drive up or down this highway. Sometimes the traffic is a little slow, buy just sit back and enjoy the views. You... More

Breathtaking views of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. You see houseboats and mansions along the way. Lots of restaurants and gift shops along the way.

If you have not driven on this highway before, consider going on it to see the scenery. The waters are beautiful, and the habitats are unique.

If you into scenery, this is certainly a drive to make. Take you time and enjoy the view as you move along at mostly a 45mph pace. Not many real photo ops because we were fighting the on and off rain showers. Many good food and shopping opportunities along the way. We make the return trip in a couple of... More

If you have a bucket list of car drives to do, please consider adding this one for the elevated views of the beautiful, blue-green-turquoise ocean. Yes, it is slow and frustrating at times, but the scenery is spectacular.

Okay, the name says it all. I've driven through the Rockies dozens of times and wondered at the beauty and this matches them without the verticality. Look around at the gorgeous waters of the Caribbean on one side and the Gulf on the other. See that bird! Probably cormorant. Could be an Anhinga, though. Don't get in a hurry, though.... More

Sure wish it could be a four lane the entire route. The two lane stretches are very, very frustrating. More cars travel UNDER the posted speed limit than those who exceed it. Views are incredible, but just so frustrated having to ride behind someone for many miles, who cannot keep up with the posted speed.
