Very scenic route everyone should experience before they die. Atlantic to the east, Gulf to the west and highway in between. Part of the old railroad to the Keys is still standing. And hundreds of little islands we call the Keys.

We flew into Key West for a few days and then drove the overseas highway to Key Largo. It was a beautiful sunny day and the scenery was breathtaking. Traffic was light to moderate on the northbound side. Traffic south from Marathon to some of the smaller keys outside of Key West appeared to be brutal. We were very happy... More

I would give this a lower rating but for the fact that it is the only way to drive to Key West. It is very slow. We averaged about 30 to 35 mph over the 100 plus miles. That includes multiple stand stills. I heard someone complaining that it took them 5 hours from Homestead. That's 25mph. And there is... More

The Overseas Highway is a beautiful sight for most of the trip. Of course you have to go through the little keys and many red lights along the way. Traffic horrible.

Miss that traffic jam back home? Well, give the Overseas Highway a try. The road trip from the mainland to Key West may be the longest 155 mile trip anywhere on a paved road! The only saving grace? A two lane trip back through the '50's replete with classic neon signs, old style tourist courts, Bubba's bait shops and grill... More

On our first trip to Key West, we flew into Ft Lauderdale, rented a car and drove down to Key West. I'm so glad we did it once. If I never do it again, that would be ok too. The scenery is gorgeous, the little towns are too cute. We stopped for lunch along the water. Great food, boats pulling... More

Its' a sight to behold driving over it,really is freaky, but what an experience, everyone should see at least once in their life,,,Amazing....R.I.P the people who died building it and those who died in the labor day hurricane.

Was able to drive The Overseas Highway in a 2015 Convertible Mustang! It's definitely a must if you're renting and driving down to Key West. Drive careful and follow the speed limits! Lots of great places to stop along the way!

LIKED: The engineering, the views, the whole drive to Key West. DISLIKED: Idiot driver who speed, drive to close behind or try to overtake when specifically directed not to by signage and lines. There was a fatal crash a day or two before we drove down, and people backed up for hours. Fortunately we had a good drive. BUT BAD... More

Better than the pictures but challenging with the two lanes in some places with heavy traffic. Glad to see so many cops watching traffic. An accident would really muck up the movement. Takes patience but worth the views and fun naming the keys all the way down to mile 0.
