An easy walk from the main shopping street, one can learn a tremendous amount about the history of the fort and how it evolved before and after this country's Civil War. A small admission fee but worth it and we recommend taking the free guided tour.

This was a great place to come and just hang out. We came here to watch the sunset one of the evenings. First we walked the beach and around the park, then we went and sat to watch the sunset. While we were waiting some dolphins swam by, and a few minutes later a big cruise ship came by leaving... More

Bike in. It's special. Been here multiple times. Worth the price of admission. Walk out or swim out to rocks. Bring a mask. Lots of fish. Sea Bass and many small species. Will do this again.

As far as I was concerned, this is the best beach in the Keys, including Bahia Honda. It is better if you could cab, drive, or bike in, as the walk is pretty long. The fort itself is only worthwhile if you haven't seen Fort Jefferson or if you have a deep interest in forts.

We toured the old fort with a guide and found the history of the fort interesting and well worth seeing and supporting. We were also impressed with the beautiful beach park and walking paths. The beach park was a hidden gem for viewing the sunset and watching the sailing ships pass.

You get to experience key west as it would have been decades before. Back in a time when this was a strategic port in the defense of the united states. Very cool that you get to walk up the top of the fort and look out. Be careful as i was up looking down at the bay another group of... More

An important place in history, this fort needs a lot of tender loving care. As the only Union-held fort in the area, it deserves more attention to rehabilitate various rooms, add explanatory signage, and increase access to various areas. Views from the upper area are spectacular. I only wish I knew exactly what I was looking at! Thank heaven a... More

This fort was visited by us after we had seen Ft. Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas. If you see Ft. Jefferson, don't waste your time on this fort, which lacked basic signage, directions, etc. It's out of the way, and unless it is better maintained or updated, stay away.

Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is a must visit when in Key West. Just ride your bike , take a cab, or walk in. it's a great venue in which to imagine the lives of people many years ago and watch imaginary pirate ships sail by. Get on the walls and look around.

$10 for two persons was too much for how little there was to see. The fort is in a slow process of being restored - though hats off to the guy who spent years doing much of the work himself - but there is really little to see and while I appreciate state parks need to be maintained, it's not...
