Married on stairway 11

The beach is nice; white sand, warm water and not too crowded. I married my wonderful friend on that beach and watched some strangers exchange vows.

So when I read information on the beach I was looking forward to something horrible....This beach has white sand and is big enough to be enjoyed by everyone! Chairs and Umbrellas cost 10 bucks each but is a nice service. I do wish there was a either a cross walk or a little walkover bridge to cross the streeet.

As long time key west fans, we know all too well that you do not go to Key West for the beach. Key West is about food fishing fun and relaxation but not the beach. The Florida Keys have lots of coral reefs and not great swimming beaches at all. However the main public beach on Key West known as... More

Nice beach, white sand, some areas of the water were kind of weedy. I found out that there are no big waves because of the coral reef. It did make for some smooth water though. Some palm trees provided shade...we went twice while we were here. Would go again too!!!!

While Key West isn't know for its beaches, Smathers Beach offers a worthy option for beach lovers. A wide, expansive (at least by Keys standards) stretch of sand edged with palm trees is perfect for sunbathers, and water enthusiasts can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and windsurf boards.

This beach is pretty clean. I will say a lot of the homeless have taken over the shelter/picnic areas and the tables themselves need some upgrading and gum/graffiti removal. There are chair/umbrella rentals and a lot of area away from the riff raff and people hanging out that are sketchy. Parking is REALLY difficult. There are a few snow cone/Food... More

This is a good beach to go to if you afford a high dollars resort with its own beach. It's kept clean. The water is so nice. There are a few venders to help with what you may want. Get some son and relax

There's not much to this beach. I would say it's great for lying out or maybe a get together with friends. I wouldn't go for the water as there is a lot of seaweed, rocks in some areas, and mushy sand. The best part was the option for water sports. My friend and I went parasailing for $40/each!

We traveled to Key West with two young kids (8 and 5), mostly to see the sights in Key West and, of course, the kids needed a break and were really interested in going to a beach for a swim. As we know, the Keys are not known for their beautiful beaches and so Smathers is a nice beach but... More

Beautiful sand, beautiful water and close to Southernmost Point. There is a restaurant bar right next to it so you can eat, drink and enjoy the beach.
