I thought this was a really cool dive and coral is starting to really form on the statue. It's a little deep for most snorkellers I'd say, so unless you're without a buoyancy aid and can dive below the surface, I think snorkelling here might be a little dull. As a dive site though, it rocks.

The boat trip to the reef was fantastic. Captain Karl and his assistant Richard were very professional, knowledgable, and fun all at the same time. The reef and all its inhabitants were some of, if not the most beautiful examples of our natural marine world that I've ever seen. In addition, the Christ of the Abyss statue was very unique.... However it snorkeling trip out to the Christ was fun and the fish around the Christ are worth the trip out there to see. It is not a pretty sight (THIS CHRIST) since they are no longer able to clean it . So it is... More

Something a diver should see if you're diving in Key Largo. It's not a deep dive so you can take your time. The statue is covered with Fire Coral so "Don't Touch!"

This is a fun dive, shallow (good for me because my air lasts longer) plenty of reef critters in the area. The entertainment for the divers comes of waiting for snorkelers to swim down and grasp the statue to get a better look. Alas, He is covered in fire coral so they have a memorable experience. ;) While I am... More
