My spouse doesn't scuba so we were on a snorkeling tour when we visited the site. Nice thing about the statue is that it is shallow enough to enjoy while snorkeling. You can free dive down and take a photo. Something peaceful about seeing my saviour with his outstretched hands.

Saw great sealife. It's a ways out there, but well worth the trip. Either taking your own boat or a dive boat is fine. A dive boat might be a bit better in helping to find the Christ statue as we never saw it on our own. It's a sizable reef and was extremely rough at the time so we... More

I love this dive. On most days you can see even if you are just snorkeling. The water was so still I had no problem swimming right up to the statue. Very peaceful.

Jesus was cool to see, and the coral formations are very pretty. Dove there with Horizon Divers a few times. As a snorkeler, someone who has never been scuba diving, or just so you can say you have seen it then its pretty cool. Pretty shallow though so unless its a calm day I'd just go to Molasses Reef.

The Christ statue, though world famous, is underwhelming. It's not very big and not that impressive. I guess it is popular because it is so shallow that snorkelers can view it too. That being said, it makes for good photo opps. The big surprise was that the coral reef surrounding the statue is quite good. Coral coverage was pretty impressive... More

Knowing Pennekamp Park has quite low visibility underwater I did not expect much. Ever since I was certified I always dreamed of scuba diving in this place. We went with quite big group and not only we were lucky there was no any other boats but the visibility was excellent. The view of the statue is very mysterious and spiritual... More

We loved this site! the Christ statue was really impressive, and the coral reef around was beautiful, a lot of sea fans and blue tangs, we also spotted a few barracudas. We went out with a small boat with only 4 divers, although it was a Saturday only a handful snorkelers there - it was not crowded as we expected.

You should definitely check out this dive site if interested! Only downside is since it is a popular place it may be a little crowded.

Dove the Christ of the Abyss today - Went out with the John Penny-camp state park dive boat. Beautiful boat, friendly crew, reasonable price. Park is typically more crowded then some of the other parks in the keys further down, but the dive boat is maxed at 20. It is not mixed with snorkelers, just divers. The dive is shallow,... More

One of the greatest snorkeling statues in the world. Feel the pressure as you make your way some 17 feet to Christ of the Deep. The fish in the area is simply amazing. A must while in the Keys.
