Amazing snorkeling

Tons of fun! Lots of fish, sharks, turtles, coral, etc. Love this reef. Easy snorkeling, don't have to swim hard or far to see tons

Such a great snorkeling site! Our kids always love to snorkel at Sombrero Reef. We've seen enormous barracuda, grouper, and a beautiful sea turtle. Also makes for a beautiful view of the sunset with the old lighthouse.

I noticed alot of people trying to snorkel at Sombrero Beach thinking it was the reef. DUH! The reef is located at the lighthouse 3 miles out in the ocean. The day we visited we arrived early and the seas were 2-4 feet, pretty rough. Fortunately there were two charter snorkel boats just leaving. What really concerned me was the... More

This is a public beach so no charge. Sombrero Reef is a good place to snorkel . The water is nice and clear. Their is plenty of fish to see. The area was somewhat busy on our visit. The adults and the teens all had fun. Nice beach area with picnic pavilions. The water was more wavy here.

We went there with Abyss Dive center at the request of a fellow diver. It was pretty busy but we saw quite a bit. We actually saw more at another spot just a few hundred yards north of there.

Awesome reef with so many fish. We saw grouper barracudas snapper and tons of others and huge oned. Fish everywher. Water was kinda choppy and it wasn't too busy but it was fun. The water is very very salty so be careful but otherwise a awesome place with so many fish

Local friends of ours took us out to see the reef near the Sombrero lighthouse. They armed me with a floating noodle and a face mask so that I could see the beautiful reef below our boat. There were parrot fish, yellow tails and thousands of little fish. Gorgeous fan coral were gently waving back and forth. I felt like... More

Sombrero Lighthouse/Reef is a magnificent reef to visit. Had to wait about five mins to get a mooring buoy to tie off to. Once we tied off and jumped in, it was incredible. Reef is very lively and active. The finger reefs extend out further than you can swim. Ocean current was a little strong at times (2-3 ft) ,... More

We went out on a snorkeling trip with Spirit and loved it. We didn't think we could find a better snorkeling spot than Looe Key, but on this trip Sombrero Reef was better. We saw almost every kind of reef fish you can imagine. The captain and crew were helpful and fun. Don't miss it!
