After searching for the "right" Manatee Tour we decided to go with Captain Gene and doing the Homosassa tour. Pivotal were the facts that there are only 6 people on the boat, that the company is known for substainability and consideration concerning Manatees and their surroundings and the Homosassa area is less crowded. And we were not disappointed and had... More

We went at the beginning of January and were a little worried about the water temp---it wasn't an issue. We had a great time learned a bunch about the manatee conservation in the area and loved riding by "monkey island" on the way out and way back. Enjoyed hanging out with the baby manatee which seemed a little more inquisitive... More

Being an animal and nature lover I was in my glory today! Obviously these are wild animals and no one has control whether they will be there or not, however, we were fortunate to go on a fantastic day where the manatee were plentiful and desiring much attention. I kissed a Manatee and I liked it ! Actually a couple....It... More

We took our granddaughters for this adventure with the manatees and they simply loved it. Sasha called it awesome. We showed up at the store to register. Registration took ten seconds. Our group of six saw the short video required by the Feds, tried on our wet suits and then it was off to the manatees. This outfit is a... More

We loved it, got to see about 5 manatees, some rays, fish and a crab that day. We were the only tourists that showed up to snorkel so we had the water to ourselves. It was peaceful, a nice break from doing the theme parks we visited that week. We really enjoyed it, Captain Gene was fun to talk to... More

My mom and I did the 8:00am snorkel on December 22, 2014 and had a great time! The water clarity could've been better (of course, that's uncontrollable), but we got an amazing close up experience with the manatees! We were so lucky to have seen so many manatees and have them come right up to us and roll over onto... More

This was the highlight of my trip to Florida. We seen between 50 and 60 manatees, they water was a little murky but it seem to have been from all the manatees in the area. We got cool videos of all 6 of us swimming with the manatees. I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone. Captain Gene was awesome... More

Have wanted to swim with manatees for a long time. After reading about Captain Gene's Snorkel With Manatees in Undercurrents newsletter, I was convinced that this was the operator for us. We snorkeled two days in late-November. We saw manatees up close both days. This company limits their boats (party barges) to 6 snorkelers. They try to minimize stress for... More

Earlier this month my wife and I flew over from UK and spent 9 days in Florida, 5 on Anna Maria Island, and 4 at Homosassa.. We had stayed in Florida several times before and have been steadily working our way up the Gulf Coast from the Keys. On a previous trip we had seen manatees from a distance of... More
