First time at the farm. Figured it would be a safe way to shop during pandemic. It was about 50% wearing a mask and 50% not wearing a mask. The floor plan is too small to stay 6 feet apart. I asked one customer where her mask was and she said " Worry about your own life" and I responded " I am". Many people are undergoing chemotherapy or have other immune deficiency issues. It should be a policy to require masks since the floor plan is jammed together. Although great prices and good quality, I will not be returning.

Thank you for your visit,
In these trying times we are doing what we can to keep our employees and customers safe. We have sanitizing stations and cart wipes throughout the market. We constantly sanitize touch surfaces. We sanitize all carts and baskets daily. All employees wear face masks. There are no exceptions.
We also have posters displayed explaining what we do and recommending what you, as a customer, should do. We recommend face masks for everyone.
I too have relatives with immune issues. Nothing would make me happier than to see everyone with a mask on. Some people who do not wear masks are very confrontational about it. There are numerous stories throughout the nation of employees of retail establishments being spit on, beaten and even shot for requesting that a person wear a mask. I will not subject my employees to that.
Please contact your county commissioner or your state legislator if you feel strongly about this. The only way a retail establishment could hope to require masks would be to have an ordinance or law to back them up.
I understand why you can’t come now but I do hope you return when this is over.
Stay safe,
Dan Nelson

Have always shopped at Nelsons. On our last visit I found the prices higher than the supermarkets. It seems as though greed has caught up to Nelsons. Also when I got home I noticed that I had paid $6.50 for a quart of Orange Juice. The price which was posted was $4.00.

We try to keep our prices as competitive as possible. Our juice is $6.50 for half gallon and $4.00 for a quart. If you think a cashier charged you the wrong price, the next time you are in, please bring it to a managers attention and we will make it right.

We drive 40 minutes to get to Nelson Farms and are usually very satisfied. However, this last trip we had a couple of disappointments. We picked a watermelon that was so hard my usband could hardly get a knife through the rind. The entire melon went in the garbage! I also purchased a package of sesame sticks that turned out to be stale. I know the melon is not a guaranteed item but when something is stale it should not be on the shelf for sale. This will to stop us from shopping there again, but only for the produce and not a packaged item.

If you are still into eating produce sprayed with pesticides then by all means shop here. If you are looking for healthier organic, non-gmo you will have to shop elsewhere. They have a limited organic selection. Treat your body like a Temple that houses your Soul and feed it real, healthy, non-genetically modified foods that are not laced with pesticides. Ask this produce experience to provide you with healthy alternatives.

I read about this place and decided to try it. I was so disappointed. I was under the impression that this was like a farmers market with local fresh produce. There was indeed a lot of produce but it was from all over the world. Ecuador, Peru etc. as well as some from Florida. Every pile of fruit has gnats flying around them. There was no way I would've bought anything from this place. They had other things also like plants, spices, mixes etc but I want so turned off from the gnats and the store plu stickers in some of the produce that I just left. Huge disappointment.

Sorry to hear about your experience. We take pride in the cleanliness and quality of our market and product, but we are an outdoor market in south Florida and gnats are going to be around no matter what precautions we take. As far as our products go, we are "Florida First" which means we get our product from Florida when available. When not available in Florida we will look to other parts of the U.S. before looking outside the country. If we have any products that are from outside the country, it means it is not available anywhere else. We are a proud supporter of our local farmers. Look for the "Fresh from Florida' signs located throughout the market.
Thank you,
Dan Nelson

I bought brussel sprouts, tomatoes corn on the cob, carrots, cilantro, cauliflower, cukes, yellow squash, bananas, lettuces and more! I didnt spend $25.00. Everything is so fresh. Then there are the multiple varieties within a category. There are also sauces and jams with sugar free selections as well. They also sell plants here!

Fruits and veggies always fresh. Prices are way cheaper than Publix. Love the fish dips and sun dried tomatoes as well!!!

It is very fresh and affordable produce. Employees are constantly stacking and inspecting the produce. They also sell cheeses and pasta. Next to it the have all kinds of plants and fruit trees for sale as well. On the weekends is really busy, but worth it.

Always pleased with the prices... Large variety of produce available, they also carry specialty sauces and jams. They try to carry as much local (Florida) grown produce as possible. I drive from Vero for their produce because I buy in bulk and Nelsons has the best selection and the best prices with friendly staff and a welcoming environment.
