We went to the public (free) side and the sand was washed out from the hurricane last november. It was a flat walk until half way out then it was a severe grade to walk to the ocean. I had to walk down sideways. We then went to the State Park side. It cost $6 but it was well worth... More

Fort Pierce is the perfect place for a day trip if you are within an hour driving distance! It's very cheap to get in and has so much to offer. There's a big, beautiful beach; gorgeous bay with small waves and big rocks to climb (reminded me of the Caribbean); and beautiful trails to walk (lots of native flora/fauna). There's... More

We went horseback riding on the beach on South Hutchinson Island. What a fantastic activity. The horses were health, and energetic, the beach was wonderful. The ride was a full hour on the beach, the guide was great. This is an amazing activity for anyone big enough to ride a horse. The cost was 40$ per person for the complete... More

This is a great park with an interesting history. We saw dolphins and sea turtles in the inlet. We were also told that there were manatee in the cove. There is camping, a museum, fishing piers and a beach. Small admission fee for your car.

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon. Paid 7.00. Enjoyed the beach but the public beach in Ft. Pierce was just as nice. Nice bathrooms and showers. We did not see any wildlife in the ocean or the inlet,. We walked the Oak Hammock Trail and saw a couple of little lizards. No birds or wildlife. There were markers with numbers... More

This is a beautiful area with a walkway that takes you out onto a fishing jetty. We have observed dolphins, manatees, rays, and pelicans while spending many hours enjoying the ocean and inlet views. As New Englanders I am remnided of walking the cape Cod Canal every time I visit the inlet.

The area is on the shore with a lovely wallking area. The day we were there they had a craft and food fair. It is a short walk to the manatee center.

We spent an afternoon here. Walked the beach, photographed shore birds, collected shells, had a picnic lunch, photographed a box turtle, watched the boats and fisherman in the inlet, and had a very nice time.

I wrote recently about not being able to walk dogs on inlet and was told by an over zealous police officer it was against the law. Since then we talked to other police officers and they said its OK. So we have been walking him from time to time.

There are few pedestrian paths, and short at that. However, walking in the ocean was pleasant since the temperature was agreable (68F) and the slop was real slow. Rather small but offers many opportunities. We saw people surfing (at least trying to), boating, fishing, swimming or simply soaking up the sun on the beach with kids. For a place to... More
