grabbed the Groupon for the Sunset Cruise ... very glad we did ... motor out through matanzas pass into the gulf where a nice breeze had the Appledore V moving at a good clip ... great hands-on experience raising the very heavy sails BYO - food, drinks, whatever you want ... They did have some steamed shrimp that were tasty... More

We had a great time! I live in Cleveland but spend much time in the Punta Gorda area as my parents live there. This trip included just my 3 year old and myself. What a great experience. Dave, Emily and AJ were great. It was relaxing for me and my little one got to think that he was helping to... More

My husband and I had plans to go on the Appledore V a year ago. Plans had changed and caused us to look into taking the voyage this year. We finally decided to take our son on the sailboat for his 5th Birthday along with a few of his friends. Of course, as any parent, we were not sure how... More

The Appledore V Schooner "Go Fish" sail was a wonderdul way to spend an afternoon in Ft. Myers. The Sail was originally to be the "day cruise" event and, although it was changed, it proved to be informative as well as enjoyable. We live in Ft. Myers year round and are always looking for more ways to enrich our "Paradise Experience".This... More

As local residents, we've taken advantage of several of the marine tour operators in the area with visiting guests. This was our favorite so far! The experience of sailing here far exceeds any of the others we have tried. The crew is very knowledgeable and skilled, the ship is kept in tip top condition. we took the afternoon "Go Fish"... More

This was our second trip aboard the Appledore V, a 2-masted schooner circa 1930's. The boat was beautiful and well-cared for with a friendly, youthful crew. Captain Dave gave a brief explanation about the sailing non-profit that owns the boat and the background of the boat itself. It was a perfect evening as we set out from the marina under... More

A perfect 2 hours on the water. Super friendly crew. They put out a nice big bowl of shrimp for everyone to enjoy, along with hummus and crackers. Really a wonderful way to spend some time on the water without any hassle. More

Wasn't sure what to bring. Next time we will pack rain ponchos and take a cooler with drinks. We weren't sure what the brochure meant when it said sunset and "shrimp." The peel-and-eat shrimp and crackers and hummus were wonderful! The crew was fabulous, easy to talk to, answered questions, going above and beyond giving us tidbits about their stories.... More

Our afternoon "Go Fishing" trip was worth a million words. Even though I am a diver, I was totally unaware of the types of sealife here in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. The trawl nets brought up a variety of life including a seahorse, puffer fish, bat fish, sea urchins, star fish, and several varieties of fish. The crew was very... More

Traditional rigging on this schooner is a hands-on educational experience for guests. What fun to actually raise the sails, bring up a net full of interesting sea life, and relax in the paradise that is SW Florida. The crew did an amazing job reaching all generations aboard, from grandchild to grandparent. More
