Given the choice to either go to Delnor-Wiggins State Park or Lovers Key State Park, Lovers Key always wins. The more natural state of the beach and it being less crowded along with the greater variety of activities available makes it the more attractive place for spending a day at the beach.

Nice state park with trails and beach access, kayaking, fishing. Beach access is about 1000 feet from parking with shuttle service available. The walk is not bad and you get to see a little more of the park including apparently manatees at some times. I visited on a weekday around 2 and there were only about 5 people on the... More

My wife and I visited this State Park one afternoon and were disappointed. The beach is narrow and is not pretty to look at. The beach was just flat, bare, sand with no trees or grass or brush. It was difficult to walk, as the sand was mostly shell shards. The overall park is nice, but more as a nature... More

We did the Black Island Trail walk. It was really nice just breathing in nature. If you're a nature lover, this is for you. It's dog friendly, so you can bring your four legged kids. We did! Just walk, run or just sit along the trail and enjoy the day. If you are lucky you'll get to meet some of... More

We wanted to try a different beach other than Ft. Myers Beach and Bowman's which we regular go to. The beach is about as secluded as Bowman's in Sanibel Island. Unfortunately, the water is not Emerald Green clear as we wanted or hoped it to be. Because we know that Bowman's was a few years back. It is narrow and... More

Lovers key is a quiet beach with the best selection of shells we have ever seen. It has areas for family picnics and a tram to the beach. It is a must see!

This is a quiet beach away from the hustle and bustle of Ft. Myers beach. No traffic noise or music. Great for walking and shelling. Take the tram out to the south beach, where there is also a shaded pavilion and BBQ grills. Rangers and volunteers are very knowledgable and helpful. There are kayaks available for rent at three locations,... More
