We had 3 days to hike and explore (then beach it) the Gulf Coast. On Day 1, we went to Sanibel - it was beautiful. On day 2, we went to Naples. eh...good for shopping. On day 3, we went to Lovers Key State Park. It's remarkable that heaven could be had for $8.00. We started the morning by hiking... More

One of the locals recommended Lovers Key State Park to us and was the best advice we could have gotten. $8.00 for the carload to get in and there was trolley service to the beach, bathroom facilities, a huge gazebo and a small snack bar selling ice creams, drinks and sandwiches. It wasn't crowded at all and we came back... More

I have been to Lovers Key on several occasions. The island is three miles long, and the entire gulf front is a state park. It costs $8 per car load to get in. Once in there is a gift shop with snacks, drinks, and gifts. There are two options for the beach. You can walk across the bridge adjacent to... More

We have not visited all the beaches in the area, but this must rank as one of the premier beaches in the fort Myers area. Access to this state beach is from estero boulevard. Cars pay 8 dollars at a ranger controlled gate. The car park has good facilities including a shop and basic cafe, toilets and a regular shuttle... More

Our family of 4 went canoeing all in one canoe. Mom and Dad paddling small girls sitting on bottom of canoe on provided cushions. We had a great time teaching the girls about the importance of the environment and the mangroves to the area. We were mainly searching for manatees. We found one small fast one on our way in... More

This is one of the nicest beaches I've been to, and I've been to a few! From arrival at the main car park, for the paltry sum of $4 you get to park all day - please remember folks that this is a state park and to pay $4 to park your car all day and use the facilities here... More

This state park beach is amazing! We spend hours of relaxation here. We drive 2 hours bi-weekly and it is worth the drive. I highly recommend you visiting this beach. You will not regret it. Go all the way on the trolley to the south beach section. Start walking to the left side and go for a long walk you... More

My family has been going to the Fort Myers Beach are for over 20 years. Unfortunately, our trip last week was the first time we visited Lovers Key State Park. We enjoyed it so much that we returned 3 more times in the week! The first time we visited, my daughter and I rode our bikes to the park from... More

Four of us went to this beach and arrived around 9:30 a.m. The free trolley ride was waiting for us to load our gear. The ride was relaxing and was only a couple minutes long. We arrived at the beach and we were pretty much the only people there on a Sunday morning at that time. The water was great!... More

Nice sidetrip from our stay in Sanibel. Went late-afternoon after the almost daily storm and the crowd was sparse. Went to the main gate and the tram was closed for the day. Walk is very manageable. Shells might not be quite as plentiful as Sanibel but still there were plenty of worthy candidates. Water was pretty clear. Unlike Sanibel, we... More
