We have visited this several times and am amazed at how each time seems to reveal new and interesting things to us. Depending on the weather, time of day, etc. you will see different wildlife and the foliage shows itself differently. The first time we went it was dry and we saw wild hogs, raccoon, lots of birds, squirrels, otter,... More

The slough is okay but not wonderful. It is free but parking is 1 dollar a hour and I recommend paying for two hours. We walked the whole boardwalk at a good pace and we were over the hour. It is 1.5 miles loop around but you can take a shorter walk half way around loop. We went on a... More

If you want to see wildlife this is the place. We save gators, birds, lizards. All types of wildlife. Children would love this too. We did go with a guide. There is not a charge for the guide. They only give guided tours twice a day. Our guide was fabulous. They are there all of the time and know where... More

We chose an almost perfect day to visit and enjoyed our time here very much. We saw two large gators, several turtles, birds and even a snake curled up on a rock in the sun. The boardwalk is an easy walk and as someone with walking difficulties, I could take the shorter route and still feel like I got to... More

We enjoyed this approximately one mile walk through the slough (pronounced slew). For those who want to enjoy Florida wildlife, flora, and conservation, this is a very educational experience. All of the people who worked there were friendly and obviously loved what they do. We saw turtles, many birds, snakes, alligators, and a wild boar family. Word to the wise... More

We went on our own walk having missed the guided walk due to waiting in a long line to use one machine to pay for our parking. The visit was free other than the parking. The slough is similar to a swamp with alligators , herons, turtles, and other water birds. Very quiet and peaceful 1.5 mile boardwalk.

Six mile "slew" was easy to access and accessible for anyone. The raised wooded boardwalk provides equal access for people walking, pushing strollers or in wheelchairs. We walked at our own pace instead of taking the guided tour as it allowed us to watch the wildlife for as long as we wanted along the way. We saw alligators, turtles, a... More

Just as it sounds this trail was packed with all the wildlife of Florida swamps. Best to go in the morning to see those reptiles sunning themselves. Looking forward to returning again soon.

We entered in the afternoon, so I didn't expect much. We saw two large gators (one close up), two otters, a wild pig maybe(25 pounds),and many many birds. Although they have guided tours,by nature you have a stampede of people .... we saw most animals on our own by being very quiet and staying away from people that had poor... More
