This will no way occupy you all day but for a few hours its fun. Pity you cannot go into the houses but from the porches you get a pretty good look inside. Its much more about Edison than Ford but that is obvious.

I was advise to make a visit by a friends from Brooklyn and again I was not disappointed.
There was a fee for the different alternatives. We did not take the tour of his house or the guided tour.
Being in my late 60-ties I thought that the Lithium battery and the Latex rubber material were inventions of the 90-ties....

We took the guided tour for which you pay $25 rather than $20 if you take the audio guides and go alone. Our guide Natalie was very knowledgeable about the gardens if a little off on her history of Edison and Ford and their achievements. However this was a lovely insight into the private lives of two influential men of...

Wow! So glad we finally had the opportunity to visit this place. The grounds and homes are beautifully situated on the river and we enjoyed every minute we had there. We opted for the guided tour and felt it was worth the extra few dollars. It's all outdoors, though, so choose a good weather day!
Visited in mid May 2013. $20 each admission for the audio 'tour' was at least $15 overpriced. At least we didn't get ripped off $25 for the tour led by a guide. There is so little here to see, it was hard to fill half an hour. I cannot understand why the organisation would proudly state it spent $1 million...

Worth the trip from a historical perspective. We take family and friends when we are all in the area. Not a cheap place to visit but great for all hisory buffs.
My husband is a Henry Ford history buff...so I tagged along for his sake. However, I found I really enjoyed the trip. The grounds are beautiful, there are gardens and differents 'out' buildings. The estate is on a pretty lake. There is still a swimming pool, one of the first in Florida.
This was their winter get away, but I...

We spent the afternoon viewing the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. It is hard to believe that these estates were used just as a winter get-away. The upkeep is fantastic. The casual walk -about -using the provided "audio-guide" - was most enjoyable. It was hot - with a slight breeze. Viewing the estates and hearing the history of the first...

This facility shows what you can do after you remove politics from the situation. After decades of Ft Myers mismanagement it was turned over to the people in the community. A quality restoration, on many levels, that can compete with other similar sites on a national level.
What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! We had decided to tour the homes for historical reasons but were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful setting on the water and the lovely banyan trees and gardens. Although it was a little pricey, we chose the guided tour which included autophones. We had a wonderful guide that brought to life a...
