Used to be great. No more. I guess Internet, smart phones and new breed of non reading folks have lead this to mediocrity and ruin. Too bad!!!!

The Broward County Main library has suffered though a nine year long repair project that had the main entrance closed and its hours slashed to only 40 hours a week. Attendance dropped from 546,000 to 291,000. The Main Library has been "re-launched" as of December 2014, which means that the entrances are all open, all of the construction barriers are... More

The title says it all. A nice place to browse a selection of books and media that is unequalled in any public facility in Ft. Lauderdale. And a great place to cool off in the summer. I love this place!

We heard many stories about the Main Library in Broward County, thus made it our point to visit. The atmosphere was quiet and sad that many of our young people do not know or appreciate the knowledge and history within the walls. We only visit Broward County a couple times a year but are anxious to see the changes next... More

Finally finishing the repairs from previous hurricanes in 2004/2005. Located in downtown Ft Lauderdale. Because of its size, it offers the most amount of books, publications, and other material in Broward County.

When I moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1996 my local friend showed off the main library as one of the "best things about Fort Lauderdale." Now the main library is on life support, barely avoiding the County's attempts to close it down completely. The building has been under perpetual renovation since 2005 with little signs of any progress. The main... More

This series of libraries has odd hours, and if you limit yourself to a local one than you really have to hope you can make it during the odd times they're open, if you miss it, they're closed the next day. The wrong books come in and if you go to Galt Ocean, don't talk loud when checking out, as... More

If you are going for the books or the computer center, don't miss the beautiful garden that has been planted outside. Many changes have been made to the library so don't discount it if you had had a previous less than pleasant visit. Library employees are very helpful and there is a good selection. A information center downstairs gives you... More

Located on East Sunrise Blvd., this is open late for students or for those wishing to use computers. It has been in this location for well over 50 years. A great source for points of interest for the tourist or locals.
