Guess I'm a little spoiled by regularly playing many top rated courses in the Sarasota area (and many in Chicago in the summer) for less than half the price of here, but wanted to get a supposedly "primo" course in our 14 rounds in 14 days on 14 different courses holiday for my friend visiting from Canada for 2 weeks.... Very nice muni course. We played early on a Saturday but it was pretty quiet. From the row of carts at the ready, I presume the locals don't go out until 8am, so we beat the rush. Tough test but not unfair. Take plenty of balls as it's easy to lose them if you stray. Nice little clubhouse and if... More

A beautiful layout, a tough design, but a great number of tee options make Old Corkscrew playable for the average golfer. Be sure to pack a number of golf balls, because there are numerous opportunities to go in the water, or in the marsh. The greens are especially tough to putt. Nice practice facility, range balls are included in the... More

When you hear you are about to play a course designed by the great Jack Niclaus which acording to the guy in the pro shop is ranked Number 38, (he never did explain if that was no 38 in Florida, the US or the World) you would be for forgiven for having high expectations, especially when a two ball with... What a great layout, went here instead of traviso bay which we'd played before. This was a better choice. All played from different tees which made for a fun but challenging game . Comments about greens , slopes etc are all accurate, it's tough , but playable. condition was not top drawer, presume out of season rather than endemic. Staff... More

I really liked the course. I was paired with three members who showed me around. There was not a single bad hole on the course, even though they missed a postcard hole that you will always remember. The green areas were difficult and with a new putter and unfamiliar with Bermuda grass - my short game was not how it... More

The title of my review says it all, this place is amazing. Greens roll true, fairways are in great shape, the layout is good, the staff are friendly. It's a must play in the area especially if you get a good rate on the course. If I had to complain about something it would be that the prices at the... More

Just played Old Corkscrew for the first time last week and I am still marveling at the experience. Let me start off with the fact that I am a fairly high handicap player and I was totally blown away by the difficulty on some holes, but this may have been the best overall golf experience I have ever had. The... More

I really enjoyed my round at Old Corkscrew but had to really think my way around the course. The condition of the fairways and greens was phenomenal and there were a full range of tee options to match yardage to skill level. However, as many have noted this is a very tough track. Each hole is typified with reachable traps... More
