Description: Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat...
Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion has hosted such noted guests as President Cleveland, King Edward VII, the Astors, the Vanderbilts, Louis C Tiffany and Thomas Edison. In fact this is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and Mr Edison oversaw the install himself. This is not your typical Victorian mansion though. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Every room on every one of the three floors is magnificently decorated and every room features a different style floor and window design. There is not one room that is off limits for visitors to see on their guided tour, you get to see it all including the owner's suite and the original 1886 schoolhouse which has been lovingly restored and converted to a "Zen"like cottage. There is also a beautiful meditation garden, gazebo and pool area for visitors to enjoy. Reservations are required $20-$30 per person $10 for children. Payment is cash or check at the door and we do charge applicable sales tax.

You do not want to miss this amazing home. Our guide was Debbie; she was wonderful. Her love for this historic treasure and the owners is obvious and infectious. I cannot wait for an opportunity to go back. Much too much to take it all in with one visit. The Stetson Mansion is, indeed, a polished diamond.

Sarah thank you so much for touring the "Crown Jewel of Central Florida" and for sharing your feedback in your post. The mansion was a virtually forgotten about until we discovered it in 2005. Our dream of saving, restoring and sharing it with the world was crazy at best but I have never been one to back down from a... More

The tour guides Debbie and Robin were a complete delight with great insights to a time gone by. While not a museum it was definitely a remarkable restoration.

We did not know what to expect as visitors from England. Quite a small house, the tour guide was Debbie who was excellent, and made the tour well worthwhile. We did the standard tour so did not see the bedrooms on the top floor.

A one of a kind 19th Century home located in DeLand Florida. Built by George T. Pearson for John B. Stetson the hat maker and friend of Henry A. DeLand. The home and surrounding property give an inside to how the rich lived during the late 1800's. Fine wood, marble and beautiful art glass incorporated into the architecture. There is... More

We had visitors from upstate New York and looked for things for them to do as well as things we had not done. We had Robin for a tour guide and she was outstanding and explained about the history of the Stetson Mansion and what JT and Michael had done. We were very impressed with it all. We will be... More

25 members of our car club toured the former home of famous hat manufacturer John B. Stetson in Deland recently. This is an incredible restoration of a period mansion which the owners call Florida's First Luxury Estate. Rooms are huge. In the restoration they have merged yesterday and today which I found interesting in a house of this prominence. The... More

I would first like to thank you and all 25 members of your car club for allowing us to share the grandeur and history of the Stetson Mansion with all of you. Many Floridians have never heard of the Stetson Mansion because until we decided to purchase and restore it in 2005 it was never opened to the public. Little... More

We did the Grand Tour with Debbie and couldn't have asked for more information or enthusiasm. It is wonderful that this mansion was brought back to its real beauty AND that it is being shared with so many people. We feel fortunate that we were among those people. John B. Stenson would be proud. Beth

She was very impressed, has a list of friends she needs to take, and wants to volunteer as a guide. It's inspiring, unique, and a must see. Also BUY the two books. Seeing the Mansion during the Stetson 150 Grand Tour is totally a different experience than visiting during the Christmas Spectacular. The Mansion's unique elegance and charm shine through without any distractions. Visitors can focus on the bones of this Victorian masterpiece and the history of famed hat maker John Stetson. Debbie was an excellent tour guide; her energy and humor... More

Thank you for such supportive and complimentary words in your review.
