Description: Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat...
Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion has hosted such noted guests as President Cleveland, King Edward VII, the Astors, the Vanderbilts, Louis C Tiffany and Thomas Edison. In fact this is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and Mr Edison oversaw the install himself. This is not your typical Victorian mansion though. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Every room on every one of the three floors is magnificently decorated and every room features a different style floor and window design. There is not one room that is off limits for visitors to see on their guided tour, you get to see it all including the owner's suite and the original 1886 schoolhouse which has been lovingly restored and converted to a "Zen"like cottage. There is also a beautiful meditation garden, gazebo and pool area for visitors to enjoy. Reservations are required $20-$30 per person $10 for children. Payment is cash or check at the door and we do charge applicable sales tax.

You may think "I've see pictures of it" and not want to go but it is so much worth the trip to DeLand, Florida to see Stetson Mansion. It's fascinating to see the different patterns of parquet flooring throughout the house. I enjoyed the tour guide, Debbie, with the wonderful information shared in every room I saw. It's such a... We went to the Stetson Mansion ostensibly to see the quilt show, as my friend and I are quilters. However, the real thrill turned out to be the beautiful Stetson Mansion, which has been restored to the opulence that it knew when it was built. Debbie, our guide, was fantastic, sharing both facts and anecdotes about the people who are... More

Lots of great reviews on this one from very loyal fans, but be sure you know what it is before you go. The comment is made on the tour that they are the #1 attraction in FL "rated even higher than the mouse". To be clear, this is a house that has been in large part restored to be lived... More

Thank you for visiting the mansion and giving your perspective. Yes this is a private home, which is what makes it unique but more importantly it is Florida's First Luxury Estate, the winter retreat of famed hat maker John B Stetson, one of the first homes in the entire world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and these... This is my second time touring the Mansion (the first was the Christmas Extravaganza) but this time I was fortunate enough to take the Grand Tour...and to have Debbie Pixley as our tour guide once again! Debbie is so passionate about the Mansion that it just makes you want to be a part of this wonderful fabulously restored piece of... More

Debbie our tour guide was delightful and since we had a very small group it was like we were in our very own mansion. The quilts were beautiful and added to the décor of an already lovely place. I had been to the mansion once before when it was "dressed" for Christmas so I didn't expect it to be as... More

I visited the mansion on July 23 2015 during the quilt tour. I was amazed and the tour exceeded my expectations. First of all our guide Debbie was so fun. The mansion has been restored beautifully and is amazing. JT's decorative skills are awesome and his energy is contagious. He popped in to say hello and announced a drawing for... More

Third visit to Stetson Mansion in one year. Beautifully restored home, and love how JT and Michael "invite" guests into their home to sit and enjoy. Robin was our tour guide. She is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the home. The Stetson Mansion is a "must see" and a real Florida gem.

Yesterday, 3 friends and I made our first visit to the Stetson Mansion in Deland, FL. What a delightful visit! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and gracious and not only guided us through the home, but made the tour personable, making me feel welcomed into the home as a house guest, and not just a tourist. The house, itself, is... More

The mansion has been renovated, not restored. The owners have managed to entice artisans to redecorate the home, not in the manor it would have been in the late 1800's. The only thing they managed to restore are the parquet floors - wonderful to see the workmanship. The mansion is for sale - wonder if the new owners will allow... More

Hello and thank you for touring the Stetson Mansion and offering your feedback. I would like to touch base on your comments regarding the mansion restoration, yes I said restoration. My partner and I were very thoughtful about the implementation of modern conveniences into this amazing structure because we did not want to compromise the historical or architectural integrity. We... More

Today, July 24, 2015, some of the ladies from our quilt guild visited the Stetson Mansion. Ten of our ladies from Citrus Friendship Quilters' Guild had the pleasure of touring the mansion. Big thanks to you MarySue and all the other ladies of your guild. We spent thousands of hours on restoring the mansion and after all is said and done we would do it all over again.
