It was easy to found, got on the shuttle boat right away and were on the island in no time. The captain told us the mangrove trail was closed because the latest hurricane had damaged the passage way (most of it is a suspended stilts) but we ventured just the same to find out that there are no real damage... This is a hidden gem in Deerfield - a great break from the urban world. Its a good weekend getaway but does not consume too much time.

Trails and island in general very well kept. Was nice to visit a place right int he middle of the city... More

IT was fun, we went on a night tour the first of its kind and learned alot about the island. We learned about the gopher tortoise that lived on the island and that you can boat to it for free. Would love to go back!

On weekends, a shuttle boat brings you across the river to the island. it takes about 5 minutes to get across, and you can see the whole little island within an hour, maybe two if you are really taking your time. There are restrooms and a soda vending machine, you need to bring food if you want to picnic there.... More
