Very smartly laid out park which quickly comes up on the right side of the road. Beautiful easy walks and information readily available throughout as are shady benches where you can sit (hopefully in peace and quiet) and wait for skiddish creatures to come by. Huge crab holes all around. No manatee for us but it was worth it and... More

This is a beautiful park with wide boardwalks that are mostly in the shade. Although we weren't lucky enough to see a manatee we did see butterflies, birds, spiders and crabs. It was a peaceful couple of hours and it was free!

I visited this park after stumbling across it on tripadviser and thought I'd make a morning of it. Why not? It's free! It turned out to be the highlight of the Fort Launderdale leg of my trip! This place is just beautiful, and the trails are nice and easy. You wont have any trouble at all if you're not the... More

So we decided to go here after reading reviews on trip advisor about how you can see manatees & birds, & butterflies. We visited this place around noon on a sunny 78 degree day. We were one of 3 cars in the parking lot, so this place must be secret!! Anyways, I only saw one monarch butterfly in the little... More

Had a delightful walk through this Nature Center during our one night stay in a hotel before taking a cruise. Lovely boardwalks and well maintained. Think in season it much be quite beautiful.

Looking for something to do that was close to our hotel and found this place. It was clean and had wooden walkways for most of the trails. We saw a manatee in the river and plenty of insects along the walkways. Plenty of shade made for a cooler walk.

I was staying at a nearby motel for two days and on my morning walk discovered this Nature Center. What a wonderful treat and discovery. I kept expecting to find a kiosk with an attendant charging to enter. The wooden boardwalk above the swampy areas provided a safe walk. The entire center was handicap/scoot friendly. I am from Oregon so... More

A calm and quiet retreat from the busyness of the city is found in Secret Woods. Old Florida is made accessible via well maintained boardwalks through a variety of habitats. One trail leads to New River, where we were lucky enough to spot several manatees close to the pier. On an earlier trip we spotted a pileated woodpecker. Each of... More

This was an exciting visit for us, as we were able to see manatees swimming in the New River from the Nature Center's boardwalk. The Center is very well done: nice exhibits, beautiful boardwalks, and well-maintained and clean restrooms. We got wonderful assistance from the staff during our visit. Admission is free.

Wonderful place to walk in the boardwalks and experience the old Lauderdale now rapidly disappearing. WARNING: while you are looking at birds and nature some scumbag is checking out your car. PUT EVERYTHING IN THE TRUNK, that you don't want to donate to the non-working class that is happy to relieve you of what ever you treasure. I have been... More
