Thanks, Mark L, as I may not have remembered to add that little detail. Honest shop - headed into town with a bad front moving in. They called and offered refund, reschedule or head out w/ Capt. who will go out in any weather (except lightning). Driving in from Daytona, we chose the latter. 2 Boats ended up going out... More

Knowing Bird (owner) as a fellow cave diver, I had to go with his operation to visit the manatees and it did not disappoint. Our captain Rick made sure we saw manatees up close by bringing us to 3-4 locations (3 sisters didnt have many manatees due to unseasonal previous warm day).

Thank you for choosing Bird's Underwater for your manatee tour. As you noted manatees are not always available for viewing at Three sisters and we often have to visit several sites before getting in the water to snorkel with manatees. This is good information for all our guests, though our captains are skilled at finding the manatees and have good... More

Four boats, over 30 divers for my brother's birthday bash - not a problem for Bird's Underwater Dive Center. Quick check-in, educational pre-trip video and lots of viewings. Super high marks for our boat captain Steve Browning. His running commentary kept us informed and eagle eyes insured we saw lots of manatees. Capt. Steve manuevered the crowds of kayakers and... Wow Wow Wow! We debated on whether to travel the 3 hour distance to do this (we were staying in the Port Charlotte area) AND WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DID! We took the 6 am tour on a Monday morning and were some of the only people out there! Donna was our captain/tour guide and was FABULOUS! She explained... More

We took the 6AM tour because a friend told us there would be more manatees and fewer people at that hour. The air temp was unusually cold due to a rare record cold front down south (about 40F with a breeze) and although we had a good experience we absolutely froze because we weren't prepared. It's ok in the water... More

Thank you for your review and good advice to future guests. It can be cold this time of year and though we advice folks to bring a warm towel it sometimes isn't enough. It has been such a cold season this year that we are now offering hand warmers (the type skiers might us :) ). Thank you also so... More

We are diving with Birds Underwater since nearly 20 years know. We love the familiar atmosphere, the friendly faces, their willingness to go one step further to make sure that your experience is a great one. And be that diving with the manatees, equipment rental or shopping. And what we like the most is the feeling that "getting your money"... More

the cranky old guy, our 8 year old grandson and I headed out with Captain Steve and Captain Rick on a very windy, very rainy morning. The desk offered to cancel any charges if we chose not to go out because the weather was so rough and visibility would be poor. The captains said, "If you are willing to go,... More

My wife and I went with our daughter and four grandchildren (ages 9, 10, 13 and 17) on Bird's 6 AM manatee swim. Captain Steve was extremely helpful and friendly. He made sure the kids felt at ease. When we arrived at the manatee area, he pointed out manatees to the kids so they wouldn't be afraid when they got... More

Another fabulous visit..... this year we had a new captain, Captain Steve. He did a great job making sure that we had a super experience. There were so many mannies that Three Sisters Springs was closed but he had several other places to which he took us, and we had all to ourselves. To top off the visit, he recommended... More
