Bear to the right at the CR Preserve State Park and go down the dirt road for this hike. The loop is 7 miles and it's great for either mountain bikes or hiking. If you're hiking the whole trail, the sign states it will take 3-5 hours. Carry your own water and there are no facilities. We've hiked and ridden... More

Located near the Crystal River Archeological Sate Park, the boat Monroe takes you on a 90 minute tour of the Crystal River portion of the Nature Coast of Florida. The guide, Leroy, is a retired State Park Ranger with 30+ years of experience in the area. His love of the job showed with his personalized narration during the trip. Many... More

After calling in at the visitor centre, we drove back to Mullet Hole for a walk along one of the trails. We loved the tranquillity and didn't see another person. We weren't sure of the route and couldn't see any trail pointers and, as we hadn't applied insect repellent (and had been bitten) we turned round. We went on the... More

Start with the Visitor's Center and watch a brief movie about FL and look at the exhibits. The preserve covers almost 30,000 acres of pine woods, hardwood forests as well as salt marshes, scrub land and mangrove islands. You can see it all on the Nature Coast. There are boat rides, native plant gardens and so much more.

Drive 2 Crystal River Preserve State Park (the one in the north part of the park): Interpretive Center: CLOSED ON SUNDAY! The Visitor Center houses 6 floor to ceiling dioramas depicting habitats in the park. Other displays include three 125-gallon aquariums, an ornate diamondback terrapin enclosure, and a touch table. The conference room is used for presentations, meetings and the... More

Trails are best earlier in morning during summer. We saw a juvenile Panther. There are poisonous snakes, alligators and bears.Just watch where you step and dont let kids walk ahead of you to be safe. Bring water and cell phone. A trail app can be helpful too.

They keep a close watch on gators but be careful with little kids. Don't bring your dog. The teenagers don't respect the splash and jump rules so be prepared to get wet around them. It would be best to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy as their is much to see. A very clean park, easy to walk around.
