Trails are best earlier in morning during summer. We saw a juvenile Panther. There are poisonous snakes, alligators and bears.Just watch where you step and dont let kids walk ahead of you to be safe. Bring water and cell phone. A trail app can be helpful too.

Nice informative trip out on the water. Times for departure are exact so don't play around getting there.

They keep a close watch on gators but be careful with little kids. Don't bring your dog. The teenagers don't respect the splash and jump rules so be prepared to get wet around them. It would be best to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy as their is much to see. A very clean park, easy to walk around.

We took the Crystal River Preserve State Park boat tour. The tour lasted an hour and a half. The boat went from the dock, out to the Gulf, and back. A ranger was stationed at the front to tell us about the history, both human and natural. We saw four eagles and their nests, an otter, osprey, and many other... More

The water here is just like most rivers, brown and murky. We had missed the manatees by a week or two. I took a few pictures that I will include. We arrived at 10:20 missing the boat tour we wanted to take on the river. Our kids enjoyed the nature center which was tiny but had a few creatures. You... More

The park has many trails for biking and hiking as well as a ranger station with some small exhibits and helpful staff, They also offer some sightseeing boat trips, which unfortunately, while we were there were not running due to mechanical issues. A back up boat might be useful as they had to cancel many trips.
