This is one of the saddest beaches I have ever seen. I would love it to be great but it is always covered with bird droppings. The location is very cool but ick!

Compared to the larger beaches on the Atlantic, this beach is tiny, but it has several pavilions; the facility seems to be adequately maintained and has restrooms. The swimming area is small, and there is no lifeguard on duty. Since the local schools are back in session, it wasn't overly crowded. Also there is a fishing pier and a boat... More

Go south to Tampa St Pete area if you are looking for a beach. It is not here at this location. This is more of a roped off area on the river.

We drove to this beach with many other cars doing the Florida Car Cruise across Florida. It is a nice spot. The Sandy beach is very nice to walk on. It is a great spot for watching the sun go down over the water.

I just recently moved to Fla. From SC and googled the nearest beach to Dunnellon, this was it! Being raised in Florida I have/had been to pretty much every beach in the mid to nothern part of the state in the past.... This is a quaint little beach! Like others say..there are no shells, it's not "flashy" just a quiet... More

We decided to travel to the end of the road near the Plantation Inn. It lead do this beach area with a boardwalk for fishing off. We were not prepared to swim but the facility looked nice. Had bathrooms, covered tables, and lots of space on the mini beach. Will defidently want to actually go swimming here next trip.

Taking a walk on the fishing pier just around sunset I found to be the best time to capture some great pictures of the sunset, was on the beach which is just OK nothing I would write home to mom about but there were some dolphins swimming just outside the netting , about 3, Was great to see. Its more... More

Better beaches are further South. Not much here to recommend it. The water is not very clear and the beach area is very small. Locals use it rather than drive further South to the better beaches. To find nice beaches you need to be around Clearwater, Fl.

My husband and I went here to fish, pleasantly surprised with the pier and natural beauty of this place! We fell in love with it! Not a place for people who want a Flashy beach! Beautiful place for those wanting a more nature like experience. Sunset was GORGEOUS! There is a little picnic pavillion to bring a lunch or snack... More

We came to Crystal River to swim with the Manatees but were pleasantly surprised that there was a small beach available as well. I read the other mixed bag reviews, but honestly I can not complain. Yes, the beach is very small but big enough and has sand, restrooms, and very shallow water excellent for small children or for those... More
