This is a small water area where we went to enjoy the sunny, warm Coral Gables afternoon. Plenty of beach area for our blankets, Nice area for a picnic or family day out.

Even if it's a beautiful place, we have been stolen. The thiefs broke the handle of our locked car and took all our luggages. We just stopped 5 minutes to take some pictures, there is a guard at the entrance (the park cost 5$) and the marine police is just beside. At a point, we were without any one penny,... More

I have been comign to Matheson Hammock since the 1960's and it remains one of my favorite places in South Florida. It is a small man-made beach on Biscayne Bay with the most unique and spectacular views of the Miami skyline. It also has a marina and a restaurant. It is a ncie place to go see wind kite surfer... We decided to hike the few miles to the beach today and took the bike path through the dense mangrove forest. Though the mangrove foliage and root systems are beautiful and fascinating, the mosquitoes were the worst I have ever encountered at this location. They bombarded us from all sides like thousands of hypodermic needles. They even stabbed through our... More

Bummed out with the South Miami traffic? Sick of being stuck at traffic lights? Roll on over to the Hammock and pack a lunch. Almost like having your own private beach getaway, and you don't have to deal with the drive across the causeway!. Not much to do, but that's not why you come.

We added this to our list and were so glad we did. The park and marina are just a lovely place to visit. There is a 45 minute nature trail we did not take because it was late in the afternoon and 98 degrees. The natural beach and pool is something anyone in the area should see. The views of... More

Enclosed natural water wading pool. very pretty. so relaxing with palm trees and view of Biscayne bay. plenty of parking. Out of town guests looking for a pretty low key local beach area should consider. the enclosed pool is great for kids. There is a good restaurant on site and water sports rental. We paddleboard from here to Coral Gables... More
