Matheson Hammock State Park with its unique salt water lagoon, surrounded by huge sandy beaches and natural mangroves is one of the best kept natural secrets left in the Metro Miami area. I remember going as a kid and enjoying both the tranquil lagoon and the adjacent beach, where you could walk out to sea for what seemed like miles... More

We (a group of 6 people) visited over Memorial Day weekend... We understand that there were a lot of people but, it is unacceptable that the bathrooms were so filthy!!!! It was disgusting! Urine everywhere, mix with pieces of toilet paper, garbage, ugh! ALL trash cans were to the top... ¿What's going on? Every car pays $6 to enter the... More

Matheson Hammocks Park is one of South Miami's great little secrets. It's a public park, filled with lots of activities, beautiful landscapes and even an atoll beach. For a couple of bucks, you can park all day and enjoy the many water activities this park has to offer. Location: Off Cutler Road, next to Fairchild Tropical Gardens Parking: Park outside... More

I am not sure if this should be called a beach !! It's a nice place but it's rather a park not a beach .... A nice pool though for kids. I just have to mention that you will cross through one of the wonderful streets in the world with exotic trees all through it to reach to the place... More

My husband went to kiteboard and I sat on the beach. The atoll was really neat the way they had it blocked off and the view was great of the Miami skyline.

Stopped at this spot on our way back from Key West to grab some beach time. Very busy, but enjoyable time. Haven't been here since 1974!

The best part of the Hammock is lying or sitting on the grass near the pond or under the trees. It is quiet and you can see birds and wildlife while listening to the breeze through the Royal Palms and ficus trees. There is no fee for this part of the Hammock--if you want to go to the Marina and... More

I remember going there as a kid, when we didn't wanna drive all the way to MB. Matheson has a nice litle mini "beach" for kids and a long paved bike path that floowos the paved road in, away from the cars. You can picnic, there's a nice restaurant and many folks wind surf. We also ride off road down... More

beach was awesome. only 5 dollars to park. good place to bring your hammock and enjoy a quiet afternoon in the sun by the ocean. Lifegaurds are on duty and this pool is enclosed, yet part of the ocean. good place to bring kids!

Before we visited Miami we were told to try this "beach". We were told it was beautiful, a view of Miami and other areas, a marina, warm tide pool that would be great for children, free of creatures that might pinch. Well, I may be a beach snob but this, sirs, is no beach! And I hope no one is... More
