I actually went up the tower a couple times with different kids (9, 10, and 12yo). The admission is very fair. They girl in the gift shop where admission is sold and elevator is accessed is very nice and she will give you some information to read while in the tower. Once in the tower the view is beautiful! The... More

Having never been to the Citrus Tower, I wasn't sure what to expect. It's an old Florida tourist attraction built to advertise Florida Citrus. For the Holidays they have a free light show. ($4 a person to go up to the top of the elevator, and there was no charge for a member of our family in a wheel chair!)... More

Seeing the varying reviews on here about the Citrus Tower is understandable. It's all about perspective, and those who have watched the so called "urban sprawl" take over the area may understandably be disappointed in the view from the top of the tower. Still, this at one time was the highest building and Florida and has withstood the test of... More

The Citrus Tower originally opened in 1956 to promote the citrus industry in the area around Clermont, Florida. I first visited the tower in 1961 and enjoyed the impressive view of 8 surrounding counties and millions or orange and grapefruit trees. In the early 1980's severe frost in the area destroyed most of the groves in the area. This also... More

If you like looking over a growing city, then this is a good place to stop. The first time there all we were able to see is citrus groves. Now that Clermont is growing, you can watch the city grow. Citrus tower, and the Clermont area, is in the "mountains" of Florida. The tower itself sits on top of one... More

Each year since disney opened in 1971 we took a side trip to the tower. When children are little they are excited about all. We would all go up each year and see the groves that supplyed thier morning orange juice and candy. All of my 4 children have been there several times and now with my 7 grandchildren the... More

I decided to take a detour from the main tacky tourist strips of 192 and International Drive or "I-Drive" and decided to visit a surviving piece of Old Florida Tourism, the once-grand "Florida Citrus Tower, " tucked amid the rolling hills of Clermont. The short detour paid off. Built in 1956, pre-Disney, before unchecked suburban sprawl and unchecked development ran... More

Have visited the FCT since 1961 and am glad to see it's still around. A shadow of its former self - the once beautiful carrilon bells still have the controls but no longer produce any sound. A lone employee stands watch over the empty parking lot. Can't imagine that it draws enough money to keep the lights on but am... More

It has been 20 years since I have been to Clermont, and I was EXTREMELY upset to find that there was absolutely no point left to this classic Florida monument. I have fond memories of going up in the Citrus tower as a child and admiring all the beautiful orange groves. Sadly, all one will see now is nothing but... More

The Citrus Tower in Clermont, Florida at one time was a premier central-Florida attraction, complete with a restaurant, gift shop, motel, and wax museum next door. Freshly picked citrus could be purchased (often from the very groves the tower provided views of), and the views from the top could only be described as breathtaking. Unfortunately, this is the conclusion one... More
