Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

We had lunch at Ruth Eckerd Hall prior to seeing the matinee of Annie, the musical. The food was quite good and for $25 per person, we were pleasantly surprised. The salmon and flank steak were delectable and served with a glass of wine. Annie, the musical was delightful! There wasn't a bad seat in the house but we were... More

This was my view for $175.00. Diana Ross is the white dot behind the giant wheel chair in front of me. Look how much higher he was compared to every seat in the room. We always went to Ruth Eckerd because there was never a bad seat in the room. Can't say that anymore. Will never spend the extra money... More

The Broadway show "Annie" was great and the venue very comfortable. The preshow dinner we purchased left a lot to be desired. The meat was un-chewable and the veggies were unidentifiable. Won't eat there again.

We saw the TV tour of Dancing With The Stars at Ruth Eckerd Hall & thoroughly enjoyed the show & the venue. It was very easy to find & free park. I would return to events at Ruth Eckerd Hall next time there is an event I would like to see there. Try to get seats close to the aisle,... More

It has always puzzled me why some venues are more popular than others. The acoustics at Ruth Eckerd Hall put other venues to shame. There are no bad seats.

This is a great place to see concerts. The auditorium is small enough so that the crowds are not overwhelming. The parking is easy and there's not a bad seat in the house. Do remember to eat before you come. The food available is just hot-dogs and pretzels. What a shame... The pre-show wine is generous though. The acoustics are... More

If you are from Sarasota, you will encounter same performing arts center but painted purple. Wonderful hall; Great acoutics for orchestra and pop music...no bad seats. But if you struggle to get to a middle seat remember there are ailes on the sides only in this 2000 plus seat venue. Lots of free parking and valet too.

I went to the Box Office to purchase tickets for my sons & their spouses for The Book of Mormon in February. The attendant was very pleasant & helpful in selecting the best seats in my price range. It was a quick & pleasant experience.

We to Ruth Eckerd to watch the Nutcracker. The production was great. The staff was very nice, good comfortable seats with a little extra leg room. Negative was the a/c. Not sure if they had seen the forecast about the unusually warm temperatures, but they didn't turn on the a/c until about half the way through. The place got very... More

Just saw the Nutcracker ballet, which was terrific but this review is about the venue. God help us who bought tickets early and had center of the house seats. If I had to stand one more time, I would have left. No center aisles so there are continuous rows of 80 plus seats. And after the awesome performance, all 2,200... More
