This place is a great place to relax. The scenery is nice and there is generally a nice breeze off the water.

You do have to pay if you plan on driving in. I chose to run across the bridge and take a peek in the Sand Key Park. I love to watch birds so this was a special treat. Very clean, very well maintained...very beautiful.

We saw a sign for Sand Key Park and decided to check it out. It was too chilly to go in the water but we walked on the beautiful beach. We hope to go back in July or August.

We visited Sand Key Park our first day in the Clearwater area, looking for a beach with more nature and less crowds. Sand Key park was great. We were there on a windy, chilly day so I didn't spend as much time lying out and enjoying the beach and views as I would have liked, but it was beautiful and... More

My family and I live in the greater Tampa area and decided to drive down to check out Sand Key Park and some other local places heading down the barrier islands. We've been to Clearwater several times. No matter when we go it feels like the crowds are outrageous and parking is a pain. Not so on Sand Key. Now,... More

Beautiful beach and scenery. Pay parking(minimal). Picnic areas and family friendly. Downside is the park closes at dark. Will come again.

We drove over an hour, while on vacation, to Sand Key Park because of it's reviews on Trip Advisor. We were so excited until we actually got there. The gate was closed and locked and not a sign or explanation as to why they were closed. Many people, both locals on foot and travelers by car, were piled up at... More

Sand key beach was amazing. The dog park seems fairly well maintained and our dog loved it. You drive about 7 minutes north across the bridge and you're at clearwater beach which was just crawling with people and was just a mess to navigate. Not to mention the line of traffic we saw coming across the bridge into clearwater (on... More

DIdn't like - people smoking on the beach, littering. Parking is $5, but all state parks in FL charge something. So could be worse. Liked - Walking in ankle deep water and shelling for miles.
