While this is called "Manatee Sanctuary Park," it's important for folks to realize that there are no manatees "in residence" or "in captivity" here. That being said, manatees are often seen in the area of the park, but they are wild animals so may or may not be there when you visit. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful little park with... More

My husband and I went 2x this visit. The first day we went there were not any manatees. Came back after our cruise the weather was awesome, no manatees, but there was many dolphins and fish jumping up out of the water. It is a nice park to walk and exercise, there is even a pavilion to have lunch. Nice... More

We were disappointed to not see any animals, but the boardwalk was great for little kids to have free run for a while since it's "fenced."

Love Trip Advisor! Followed someone else's instructions on trip advisor, found the gate, lifted the lock and went in. Walked to the end of the jetty and saw several manatees. Enjoyed the visit, got some great pics. Be sure to watch for fire ants-I wasn't paying attention, stood on several ant hills and paid the price!

On the recommendation from another reviewer on here we were able to see some manatees and even a sea turtle. We drove 2 lights south on A1A and turned right on Center Street. Cute little park at the end of the road was loaded with manatee's!

Stopped by this park in the evening. We walked down near the water through the fence and saw several manatee splashing in the water. They were a ways down towards the left of us but near shore. A storm was coming so we decided to try the next day. We tried the same area & didn't see anything. A man... More

You can see lots of manatee here. You cant feed them or get in the water with them but seeing the beautiful graceful creature is enough. If you wanna swim with them you can at Crystal River but that's 4 hours away. This is a great choice and there is fishing pier close by too. wish id had my rod... More

I was visiting the area and went here early one morning to see some local birds and manatees. This is a nice little park with some good playground and exercise equipment as well. I was able to see one manatee from the observation deck, and about 30 species of birds within about 30 minutes. It was under some construction, but... More

Very peaceful cove/park where we did spot a manatee leisurely swimming. Was spotted within two minutes of standing on the observation deck. Designated area for parking on grass as parking lot under construction. Was worth the trip.

We saw no manatees at the Manatee Sanctuary Park. However, a park ranger was very helpful to tell us to drive south on A1A two stop lights from the park and turn on Center street to the right. At the end of the road we were delighted and greatly entertained by numerous manatee and dolphin playing close to the shore.... More
