This was my first visit here and I would like to say that this place is doing a great job with limited resources. The guide we had was polite and informative. It is more of an Animal Rescue than a "Zoo". Most, if not all of the animals are there due to the fact that they would not survive in... more

If you are interested in seeing how Florida attractions were in a distant past, don't go here. If you want to see what has happened to them, do. Once as families made their way down the Tamiami trail headed to Fort Lauderdale, FL, this place was a welcome reprieve from the monotony of driving. Now, tourists are funneled into Orlando... more

After having read so many negative reviews, I didn't know what to think, but I have a home close by, so my adult daughter (very anxious to see alligators) and I took the tour. I was not disappointed at all. The park is definitely 'old Florida', but we were not offended at how the animals were kept. From what we... more

I took a vacation with my family down to Sanibel Island, which is roughly 30 minutes or so away from the Everglades Wonder Gardens. We found the place after looking at a few traveler's guides. Sure, the ad was a tad glitzy but hey, we figured we'd give it a shot. So, we traveled to the place. The outside looked... more

I would never suggest this place for younger children (6-7 & under) The walls are too tall for kids to see, the glass that houses the snakes and other animals are not the non glare type...very difficult to see into them. The guide for the 45 minute tour knows her stuff but the tour is truly geared toward the 15... more

The guides are so ill informed and still quoting old wives tales about reptiles... I was shocked. After the tour was over I attempted to point out the terrible conditions and the obvious animals that were sick or in a unhealthy condition. I was blown off and immediatly demanded to see the manager. I was introduced to a gentleman who... more

The initial impression is not good...make no mistake. The host was not real friendly and the facade of the building made me doubt the decision. When asked if it was child friendly (i.e. "could we be bring a stroller"), we received a look like we were idiots and were answered with "All the animals are in cages." Gee, thanks...I was... more

What a nice, close-up look at Florida foliage and wildlife! If you want to see alligators, there are plenty of them. Wander around the paths, through lots of greenery and see all kinds of Florida animals - panthers, turtles, bears, lizards, birds, snakes - the guides are informative - it was not crowded, small groups, leisurely pace. We thoroughly enjoyed... more

When asked why the turtles have moss all over their bodies, the tour guide said that happens w/ the sun. That, after I noticed the sores on the rear area of the panther that didn't look healthy and slim. One couldn't help to wonder if the animals were well cared for. The otter show was not available, although that was... more
