The lighthouse had very informative exhibits. Diorama's explaining early Calusa Indian settlement as well as sea life and early fishing communities are explained. The view of the pass is great.

Very well-preserved lighthouse on the southern tip of Boca Grande. Inside is a well-done and informative museum showcasing the history of Boca Grande and the lighthouse. There's a small but well-stocked gift shop as well. The best part, though, is outside the lighthouse. Not just the views of the light from outside, but the surrounding dunes, beach, and ocean. The... This is a quaint (small) museum that is free (suggested donation of $3/adult) after accessing the park ($6/toll and $3/car). The exhibits cover the native Americans, the Spanish and later settlers, including an interesting story about Ponce de Leon, and more recent history, including the railroad, mining and current uses. Definitely worth a visit.

Very informational place to visit. Lots of history that the time isn't enough. The tour guide was wonderful and knew every question. You really can only do this once before getting bored, so make sure you ask all your questions!

You will enjoy finding out how important this island was to commerce and growth in the area. This is well cared for and has a beautiful beach to enjoy.

Although I'd been to Boca Grande many years ago, I've never visited the lighthouse. So, taking my husband and daughter there was a new experience for all of us. The guides are extremely informative and you get a real understanding of the history and purpose of the light house. We asked about the location of a public restroom and were... More

Other than my very first lighthouse visit as a child (Pemaquid Point, Maine) Boca Grande (Big Mouth in Spanish, however here the Grande is pronounced GRAND) will always be a favorite lighthouse of mine. There are two buildings - one the museum and gift shop which was the main lightkeeper's residence and the other almost an exact match in style... More

The lighthouse on Boca Grande is very beautiful. The beach is a great walk and seems very clean. My wife and I chose this spot to get married with the lighthouse in the background and it was a very memorable experience. We will definitely be coming back.

The Museum is a few short steps to water - the entrance to Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River from the Gulf of Mexico - and a wrap-around beach. It is well maintained and interesting. Getting there was fun also - winding through neighborhoods of Boca Grande Pass. This seems to be an entrance for fish to spawn in the... More
