A lovely beach with a great view. We came close to sunset. My son loves trains and he enjoyed the bridges very much. The water was warm and calm. Kinda cloudy though. Great sand beach which is hard to find in the keys. Not a lot of people when we were there in May. Totally worth stoping to see!

This is part of the state park beaches at Bahia Honda state park. It is the one closest to the concessions. Usually much cleaner that the other Sandspur beach. We think it is the best for the young children very shallow and calm. Great Sunset view. As locals we use the beaches there often. Do not forget the sun-screen and... More

Went here with the girlfriend our second day in the Keys and didn't find a better beach outside Key West while there. Unlike the other beaches, Calusa has space to to walk around and enjoy the view. Less people here during peak time and lots of parking. Gorgeous.

This is a small beach at Bahia Honda where the water is shallow & calm. This trip, I only went to Bahia Honda at dusk to watch the sunset & it was breathtaking being able to get both bridges in my pictures!

This beach is nice with a great shallow area for wading or swimming, and calm enough for small children. My friends and I played frisbee in the water. We enjoyed watching the pelicans dive for fish and the sunset behind the Seven Mile Bridge. Great beach, would definitely go back.

This beach is part of bahia honda state park, good for kids and swimming. Less wave action on this side of park.

This is a sheltered beach and is great when the wind whips up from the Atlantic side (it's on the gulf side). It's a nice little swimming beach - not much to see when snorkeling, though.

I really enjoyed snorkeling at Calusa Beach because of my stingray encounter and also the large number of fish near a rock wall. However, it's less pleasant for swimming, walking, and kayaking than the south beach on the opposite side of the road. Calusa slopes much more quickly than then southern beach, but on the plus side, the reef starts... More
