The DuPont Environmental Education Center is located at the 212-acre Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge in Wilmington, where the city, river and marsh meet. The center opened in 2009 and has quickly become a favorite family attraction, thanks to interactive exhibits, free admission and numerous free programs, such as daily nature walks. We visited the Center for an organized Daisy Scout event and the volunteers from the Delaware Nature Society could not have been kinder or better informed regarding the various early spring fish, fowl and insects that were out and about in the Center. If anyone in downtown Wilmington, DE ever needs a dose of nature, it's a short 10-minute drive... More

This is a very enjoyable place to visit, as long as you manage your expectations. It's not some big fancy nature center with lots of exhibits. In fact, the main building currently doesn't have much on display. However, it is a great place to come for a nice peaceful walk along the boardwalks, and sometimes they have demonstrations there too... More

This is a great place to explore over lunch, the walkways are so easy to follow. The view looking back at Wilmington is very nice. The flowers are very beautiful.

I took my grandchildren down today and we were all disappointed. Just saw a few tadpoles and a few tiny fish. No butterflies. Nothing much in the building either. The walkway is very nice, good views while walking, but nothing else. We won't go back.

We didn't realize this environmental center was at the end of the Riverfront walk. The landscaping is gorgeous! A must see. What a pleasant walk after dinner.

Situated at the end of the newly constructed natue walk, this natural oasis and modern design facility complement the environmentally sensitive natural surroundings. Wheter your hosting a Board Retreat, Staff meeting, team building or continuing education for profession group this site will stimulate the senses and add energy and enthusiam among participants. The long ramp up to the building increases... More

Still trying to figure out why Delaware hasn't been renamed DuPont - but certainly glad that their family fortune has helped to preserve antiquities, architecture, and the environment as spectacular educational tools. Our visit to the center was made even better by a gorgeous, sunny day - flowers were blooming and ou could easily see small fish and tadpoles in... More

I have been to the DuPont Enviromental Center many times. It is located along the Riverfront walkway and I find it is a good place to take the children to and/or the dog for a walk, it is also good for runners. Once you get to the building you can go to the small pond and walk around it, you... More
