An historic landmark house and gardens on a grand scale. Tour arrangements are best made in advance. Be aware that the visitor center location has changed within the past year and thus is not correctly indicated on some maps.

This estate caters to guiding no more than 6 at a time through the mansion. You are shown most every room in the house as well as its inner workings. The docents here are the most knowledgeable I have thus far seen. They are able to share most every aspect of the family genealogy which makes it even more interesting.... More

Both the mansion and the gardens are truly magnificent. The 3 hour tour is well worth your time and energy. I would suggest for you to take the 3:00 pm tour time because it is just the perfect time and weather to view the mansion and the grounds. Throughout the visitor's center, a very informative and entertaining timeline is displayed.... More

This was the most beautiful of the DuPont properties we visited in the area, and well worth the trip- but be sure to reserve your spot in advance. The house and garden are only shown by prepaid reservations, and tour times often fill up days in advance. Only 2-3 tours per day are offered, and the tour lasts about 3... More

I had heard so many wonderful things about this house and gardens but knew nothing about its history or the DuPont that built it. And I must say that I was not disappointed; it is magnificent. The visitors center is great; love the display of the DuPont family history as it relates to other aspects of history as well as... More

One of the most beautiful homes and gardens I have visited anywhere in the world. Don't miss it, along with nearby Winterthur and Hagley, all spellbinding homes and gardens of the illustrious duPonts of yesteryear. The superbly displayed treasures in each of these mansions are breathtaking.

The house has some very beautiful rooms, and offers striking views of the gardens. The gardens are strictly formal and during our sunny visit looked regal and even grand. Visitors are brought by van up to the mansion to start their tours. No photography of any kind is allowed in the mansion. No food is available there. They have a... More

I knew it was going to be good, but I didn't know it was going to be THIS GOOD! Okay, first the bad part. You are not allowed to take any pictures inside the Mansion. Now the good news: You will be in awe and the word "wow" will come out of your mouth several times as you see the... More

This mansion is just beautiful. There is a wonderful movie and timeline as an introduction to the duPont family. A bus will then take you up to the mansion, where they divide everyone up into small groups of 4 to tour the house . You can then walk the gardens on your own and a bus will be back to... More

From the moment the little bus drove up to the Mansion, I knew this was no dark old place. It's a place I would love to live in. Airy, classy, beautiful grounds. What a wonderful mansion! The tour is 2 hours minimum and will never bore you. This far surpasses the other Dupont Mansions for loveliness!
