We missed the turn into the grounds as the sign is set back from the road. A quick turn around at the next light got us to where we needed to be. Parking was easy and the visitor center was cool on the hot day we visited. The movie was long enough to present the important facts but short enough... More

An introductory video tells of Alfred DuPonts live and wives., The long hall leading to the bus stop taking one to the mansion is worth at least a half hour of your time to read the history. Alfred seems to have tried to top the other DuPonts as the mansion was built. The gardens are in the French style, formal... More

It was a bit overdone. Too formalized. Guides were everywhere counting people as they moved you from place to place. Tour has to be booked ahead of time and does sell out. It was okay but we were somewhat disappointed.

First thing Nemours is open May thru Dec. and the only day of the week they are closed is Monday. Always, always make a reservation for either the Mansion tour or the Garden walking tour. Do not bring food or beverage into the tour, save them for later. The only place you can not take photographs is inside the Mansion.... More

We took the last tour of the day and it was well worth it. The tour included a bus ride from the entrance to the mansion and then a 90 minute guided tour of the dupont house. the tour was very well orchestrated and we were put into groups of 6/guide as to get as much personal attention as possible.... I love touring big old houses and mansions. I have been to many across the country. Nemours is my favorite. The layout, the design, the gardens - it is huge but it feels like a home. It is both beautiful and welcoming. I also like the welcome center where you see a brief video giving you background on the family.... More

First of all, you must have a tour reservation to avoid disappointment. Very impressive, knowledgeable docents. Check and re-check directions, not easy to find. We had mapquest and GPS going and still were 10 minutes late for tour. Be staff was accommodating and cordial, still with a kind welcome. Again, be sure to have your reservation, don't just walk in.... More

My title really says it all. After taking the tour of the mansion and seeing the magnificent gardens. What an incredible home and incredible garden!!!! is all I can say. I almost did not do the mansion tour because it is 3 hours long and you have to book a time (9:30AM, 12:00PM or 3PM) . But I am glad... More

Kind of along the lines of Biltmore in Ashville but smaller. All the Duponts had nice gardens. The house gives you an idea how the other half lived. I would go in the mid to late spring when everything is in bloom.

When one tours Nemours Mansion and Gardens, you are not only overcome by the meticulously conceived statuary and plantings of the Italian gardens but you quickly come to appreciate that this was actually a real family home! Compared to the other exquisite Dupont estates of Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, Hagley is the most modest in it's furniture and outdoor garden.... More
