This plyis fabulous. The creators have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to put these stuffed gophers into small town scenes, from weddings to Bingo to fishing and farming. You can get a certificate to commemorate your visit and you can buy some crafts there too. Also check out the statue of Clem T. Gopher and the gopher themed... More

Bring your sense of humour and don't expect too much. The trip is great lighthearted fun. The displays are very well done and the cheesy humour is perfect. I recommend stopping for lunch at the local Inn to top off your small town amusement. It is worth the side trip - Not everyone can say they have been to a... More

You have to have a sense of humour, and also an expired membership with PETA, to enjoy this one-room museum of about 40 dioramas depicting gophers in various poses. The gophers are dead. It's cute and for 2 bucks, it's inexpensive.

I am a born and raised Calgarian and finally made it to this gem, 1 hour and 15 minutes from Calgary. You need to bring your sense of humour to this place and if you do, you are in for a treat. The details in the costumes and diorama are very impressive. I have not laughed that hard in a... More

This small museum/ gopher diorama was truly hilarious. Coming from Southern Alberta, I know how many of these animals are destroyed each year to protect crops. What an interesting way to present stories from the 60s couple scene to the church scene. Plus the hate mail book was pretty good too. If you are coming here keep an open mind... More

A great diversion on a back roads adventure! This small museum in honor of a plentiful natural resource is very ironic (jokes about stuffed gophers) and non pc (First Nations gophers) The children who were visiting were very excited about the different scenes. The volunteer descent was helpful, and humorous. The price is only $2.

The museum in Torrington has been on our 'to do' list for awhile and we finally got the chance a few weeks ago. It's a very well done, hilarious and quirky endeavor unlike any other. The diaramas are creative and immaculately put together. They have a world map behind the door showing that they have had visitors from all over... More

I wouldn't make a special trip just for it, but if you've got some time for a short detour off Hwy 2, don't miss the Gopher Museum. It's not huge, but still impressive.

Such a great little spot. Only $2 to view the exhibit and receive some of the warmest hospitality you'll find. The woman minding the counter when we visited explained that it takes a whole group of local people to build and decorate the dioramas. This is great for people of all ages to take a look and appreciate the spirit... More
