The Lewes beach is great for kids. The waves were not very large in comparison to rehobeth and Ocean City beaches at the same time. The beach is one large sandbar so the water is shallow and doesn't get deep until very far out.

I visited Lewes, Del between Christmas and New Years....what a delightful small town.. white lights, activity, fun restaurants. There is a beautiful beach, although it was winter, so no sun bathing, but I could imagine what a nice experience that would be...Wide beaches and seemingly sufficient parking. Quaint town, the main street was charming.... Just off the main highway to... More

This is a wonderful place for young children to play by and in the water without the ocean waves. You can watch the Cape May Lewes Ferry come and go, see the lighthouse and watch the sunset, fly kites read a book. Bathrooms on site. Metered parking, close walk to ice cream options. We walked to the beach so we... More

Beautiful, close by, quiet, no noisy boardwalk to contend with. My favorite! It's clean, and I love that there are certain times dogs can walk on the beach and play.

Love the Lewes Beach on the bay. It is great to take your kids here ... since you are on the bay you don't have to worry about the undertow or the rough waves. There is a large amount of beach and other then the peak hours you have no problem stretching out and enjoying the day. There are nice... More

If you like private, small, isolated beaches you will enjoy this beach. Attractions are few except the feeling of privacy and a clean beach with view of the ferry coming and going from Lewes to Cape May and return. Metered parking is almost always available. Beach is only five minutes from town center. You may have an ice cream, Dairy... More

We stopped here for fireworks on the fourth of July and fell in love with the view of the coast. It was so peaceful. We just got engaged last month and we're thinking about having our wedding on the beach.

From a logistical standpoint, Lewes Beach is easy: Parking is right by the beach; easy access to the beach, refreshments and bathrooms. The beach itself is wide so plenty of room to spread out and get away from the crowd if desired. Because it's off Breakwater Harbor (just off of Delaware Bay) the water is typically calm so it's good... More

Calm beach on Delaware Bay. No entrance fee, but only metered parking. Feels more like a lake beach than an ocean beach.

It's a good place for young children. Have to watch out for jellyfish some times. Overall, feels safe relaxing, not too crazy. Good place to relax.
