It's a nice, clean beach for families with young children. While we enjoyed the day at Lewes Beach, my 20+ kids prefer the big wave action found at the nearby Rehoboth State Park Beach area.

Great beach for families with young children or weak swimmers. Parking lot is affordable and so close to the beach that it isn't hard to schlep your stuff to the water. Downside, bath house is dark and a little dingy and doesn't have hot water. Showers are PAINFULLY cold.

After being turned away from Cape Henlopen State Park because the parking lots were filled, we found our way to Lewes Beach. Try to find some free parking along Cedar Street and use one of the public beach access pathways to access a beautiful beach with incredibly calm water -- we thought this was FAR PREFERABLE to Cape Henlopen! Where... More

The beach is clean, there are few waves and we felt the children were very safe here. We were right near the ferry in a gorgeous rental and we all enjoyed the week with our family,

I have gone here a few times before in the summer and it proves to be a nice place to spend with family or friends. Every time I have gone it was very very busy and noisy! It was hard to find a place to park and then a beach spot. The waters are very nice and usually pretty peaceful... More

Great place to enjoy the bay and calmer waters. If you or your kids prefer to have very gentle rolling surf, this is the place for you. Less crowded than Rehoboth, just outside of the sweet town of Lewes.

You have to pay for parking but if you only have a $20 bill they not only will not make change but are extremely rude about it and might just call you or the people in line behind you names like "stupid country bumpkins". will NEVER go back.

We visited this beach while staying with some friends. The waves if any are very small unlike your usual beach. The water is also fairly shallow a good bit of the way out from the beach. Makes it good for small children that don't like or can get beat around by the crashing waves of a regular beach. The parking... More

Great beach for little kids who like to play in the sand - safe, few waves and it's fun to watch the ferry come in!

Stress free for young families. Always clean and parking is close by at a reasonable cost. Safe, as there are no waves and it is shallow. Weekends can be very busy and less enjoyable.
